Abstract:
A system for controlling fluid flow in a turbine that includes at least one flow valve configured to regulate fluid intake through the turbine. The system further includes a control system operatively coupled to the at least one flow valve. The control system includes at least one processor configured to receive a percent value flow command. Convert the percent value flow command to a unit value flow command. Determine a unit value stroke command based on the unit value flow command. The processor is further configured to control a position of the at least one flow valve to the unit value stroke command.
Abstract:
A pneumatic trip system for a turbine includes a valve member; a valve stem connected to the valve member; and an actuator assembly connected to the valve stem. The actuator assembly includes a cylinder; a piston connected to the valve stem, the piston dividing the cylinder into a first chamber and a second chamber; a biasing element disposed in the second chamber of the cylinder; and a pneumatic circuit in communication with the second chamber of the cylinder. The pneumatic circuit is configured to pressurize the second chamber of the cylinder to actuate the piston to move the valve stem and the valve member to an exercised position between the open position and the closed position while the first chamber is pressurized.
Abstract:
Configurations and related processing schemes of direct or indirect (or both) intra-plants and thermally coupled heating systems synthesized for grassroots medium grade crude oil semi-conversion refineries to increase energy efficiency from specific portions of low grade waste heat sources are described. Configurations and related processing schemes of direct or indirect (or both) intra-plants and thermally coupled heating systems synthesized for integrated medium grade crude oil semi-conversion refineries and aromatics complex for increasing energy efficiency from specific portions of low grade waste sources are also described.
Abstract:
A cooling system for a gas turbine engine comprises a passage capable of receiving cooling air, a compartment radially adjacent thereto and axially aligned therewith, an opening therebetween, a valve within the opening, and a heat exchanger received in the compartment. The valve is moveable between a maximum open position and a minimum open position for increasing or decreasing airflow from the passage into the compartment. At the valve minimum open position, a leakage path is provided between the passage and the compartment, whereby cooling air is capable of passing from the passage to the compartment and toward the heat exchanger at all valve positions. A gas turbine engine is also disclosed.
Abstract:
A grid valve may include an annular stationary plate having a first annular surface, and an annular rotatable plate disposed on the annular stationary plate and rotatable relative to the annular stationary plate. The annular rotatable plate may have a second annular surface, and each of the annular stationary plate and the annular rotatable plate may define a plurality of holes in the respective annular surfaces thereof. The grid valve may further include a first magnet disposed on the first annular surface and a second magnet disposed on the second annular surface such that the first magnet repels the second magnet.
