Spanlos hergestelltes Wälzlager mit einem Außenring und/oder Innenring, der eine durch wenigstens eine Maßnahme zur Eindiffusion eines Elements in oberflächennahe Bereiche des Wälzlagers gebildete Randschicht aufweist, wobei die Randschicht des Außenrings und/oder Innenrings Stickstoff umfasst. Ferner betrifft die Erfindung Verfahren zur Herstellung eines spanlos hergestellten Wälzlagers und/oder zur Steigerung der Verschleißfestigkeit eines spanlos hergestellten Wälzlagers mit einer Stickstoff enthaltenden Randschicht.

A method for producing a case-hardened martensitic stainless steel article includes: providing an article comprised, at least in part, of a martensitic stainless steel, carburizing the article within a temperature range of 1625° F - 1680° F (885° C - 916° C), and then carbo-nitriding the article within a temperature range of 1575° F - 1625° F (857° C - 885° C). An article, such as a bearing ring, comprising such a case-hardened martensitic stainless steel is also disclosed.

The present invention relates to a sliding bearing for structural engineering applications, in particular for civil works such as bridges, buildings, structures that are required at the same time to withstand vertical loads and to allow relative movements and/or rotations, and structures to be protected against seismic events, said bearing having a low friction coefficient and being suitable for being used in severe operating conditions, both due to the loads applied and to particularly high operating temperatures. The bearing, which is of the type comprising a first part (2) connected to a supporting structure (P), a second part (3) connected to an element (G) to be supported by said supporting structure (P) and means suitable for allowing said second part (3) to translate and/or rotate with respect to said first part (2), said means comprising plates (4) and/or strips of a low-friction polymer material, is characterized in that said low-friction material is a polyamide.

Bearing component (16,18,20,22) comprising unaffected material (14) having a surface that has been subjected to a hard machining process during which the temperature of said surface did not exceed the austenitizing temperature (24) of the unaffected material (14), whereby said surface of said bearing component (16,18,20,22) comprises a white layer (15) formed during said hard machining process, characterized in that said white layer (15) comprises a nano-crystalline microstructure comprising grains having a maximum grain size up to 500 nm and said white layer (15) is located directly adjacent to the unaffected material (14) of said bearing component (16,18,20,22), whereby no dark layer (12) is formed during said hard machining process.
