La presente invención se refiere a una válvula de seguridad para evitar la caída, por retracción del pistón de los cilindros hidráulicos, causada por perdidas de presión, del sistema de elevación de tolva de un camión compactador. Dicha válvula de seguridad comprende un cuerpo de válvula con una primera y una segunda entradas y dispuesto sobre una primera entrada de fluido hidráulico en la parte inferior de un cilindro hidráulico; un cartucho de retención; una primera y una segunda mangueras para fluido hidráulico conectadas a las primera y segunda entradas del cuerpo de válvula y; un tubo rígido conectado a una segunda entrada de fluido hidráulico ubicada en la parte superior del cilindro hidráulico y, a una conexión en forma de "T" ubicada entre la segunda entrada de cuerpo de válvula y la segunda manguera, de tal manera que un aumento de presión en la primera entrada del cuerpo de válvula eleva el cartucho de retención desbloqueando el paso de fluido hidráulico elevando la tolva y, una disminución de la presión en la primera entrada del cuerpo de válvula causa el descenso del cartucho de retención, lo que cierra la salida del fluido hidráulico desde el cilindro hidráulico, bloqueando la tolva en la posición abierta, siendo necesario un aumento de presión en la segunda entrada del cuerpo de válvula, para poder elevar el cartucho de retención y, permitir la salida del fluido hidráulico permitiendo el descenso de la tolva.
