Abstract:
The invention provides a process for the conversion of biomass into a biomass product which is suitable for use as a fuel. The biomass is of plant origin and comprises microorganisms naturally occurring in the biomass. The process comprises - preparing a slurry by dispersing the biomass comprising the naturally occurring microorganisms in an aqueous liquid, maintaining the slurry at conditions suitable for aerobic digestion by the microorganisms to obtain a slurry comprising the biomass product as a dispersed solid phase, and - recovering the biomass product. The recovering comprises washing and drying the biomass product. The invention also provides a combustion process.
Abstract:
The present invention provides waste-to-energy systems for processing medical and other wastes while concurrently recycling recoverable products and generating energy, including electrical energy, from the waste materials. Methods of processing the medical and other wastes and converting such waste materials to energy also are described.
Abstract:
The invention concerns a method and a plant for producing hydrocarbon based fuels from waste and biomass including wood and/or other cellulose containing biomass, where biomass and/or waste is gasified in anaerobic conditions, heating the formed syngas in for decomposition and subsequent condensation in anaerobic conditions, subjecting the heat treated biosyngas to cleaning measures for removing elements/compounds which are poisonous towards the catalysts of the Fischer-Tropsch synthesis, and passing the cleaned heat treated biosyngas through a Fischer-Tropsch synthesis for production of biofuels.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for recovering methane from a liquid effluent of a reactor wherein a waste stream comprising one or more organic substances has been subjected to an anaerobic degradation process in which reactor biogas, comprising methane, has been produced from said one or more organic substances, the liquid effluent comprising dissolved methane, the method comprising transferring dissolved methane from the effluent to a gas phase and using the methane to produce energy.
Abstract:
Solid fuel compositions consisting essentially of wet processed biomass are provided. Processes for preparing solid fuel are provided that can include pelletizing wet-processed biomass material. Combustion processes are provided that can include initiating combustion of a pelletized wet processed biomass material. Energy generation processes are included that can include gasifying a biomass pellet.
