Abstract:
Tire inner-liners and inner-tubes are prepared from blends of general purpose rubbers and silicate clay. The clays provide the requisite low air permeability without adversely affecting the flexibility of the rubber composition.
Abstract:
A pneumatic tire that does not require mending a puncture outside the car and that prevents leakage of air without entailing an weight increase or the aggravation of riding comfort as found in a conventional puncture-less tire and a method of producing the same. This pneumatic tire has a rubber-like thin film applied to the inner surface thereof, which film has a breaking extension of not less than 900% and a tensile strength of not less than 15 MPa. The rubber-like thin film is in the form of a dried thin film of latex.
Abstract:
A method of preparing a green tire innerliner, the method comprising mixing one or more vulcanizable rubbery polymers, less than 0.75 parts by weight zinc oxide, less than 0.75 parts by weight magnesium oxide, and less than 0.75 parts by weight sulfur, per 100 parts by weight rubber, to form a vulcanizable mixture and extruding the mixture to form a green tire innerliner.
Abstract:
A pneumatic tire in which a sealant layer has been formed based on a decomposition reaction of polyisobutylene and which has an excellent puncture-preventing function while avoiding any inconvenience aroused by the sealant layer formation. The pneumatic tire has a sealant layer in that region of the inner surface of the tire which corresponds at least to the tread. The sealant layer is made of a pressure-sensitive adhesive sealant obtained by heating a rubber composition containing 0.2 to 20 parts by weight of a peroxide per 100 parts by weight of a rubber ingredient comprising at least 50 wt.% of polyisobutylene and 0.2 to 20 parts by weight of a peroxide. A liquid ethylene/alpha-olefin copolymer, liquid polybutadiene, or liquid polyisoprene is added as a pressure-sensitive adhesive for the sealant layer in an amount of 5 to 50 parts by weight.
