Abstract: A ventilator system to aid human or animal respiration comprising: a cylinder orientated in a substantially vertical direction with a top end and a bottom end; a piston disposed within the cylinder and slidable up and down the cylinder to provide an upstroke and a downstroke respectively; a drive coupling configured to be connected to a drive mechanism to drive the upstroke of the piston by drawing the piston up the cylinder; a control system configured to release the piston at the top of the upstroke enabling the piston to move down the cylinder under its own weight for the downstroke such that during the downstroke of the piston air is forced out of the cylinder below the piston through an outlet coupling and into the patient's lungs, the control system being configured to re-engage the drive mechanism at the bottom of the downstroke to drive the upstroke of the piston and draw air into the cylinder below the piston from outside the cylinder, wherein the piston has a size and weight sufficient to drive the downstroke delivering air to the patient on the downstroke.

Abstract: Die Erfindung betrifft eine extrakorporale Kreislaufunterstützung mit einer Flüssigkeits-Hauptpumpe (5), deren Pumpeneinlass über wenigstens eine erste Flüssigkeitsleitung und deren Pumpenauslass über mindestens eine zweite Flüssigkeitsleitung an den Blutkreislauf eines Patienten (7) anschließbar ist, mit einem Oxygenator (6) zum Anreichern des in der mindestens einen zweiten Flüssigkeitsleitung geführten Blutes mit Sauerstoff, sowie mit einem Pumpenantrieb, der die Flüssigkeits-Hauptpumpe (5) antreibt. Für die erfindungsgemäße extrakorporale Kreislaufunterstützung ist kennzeichnend, dass über die Blut- oder Flüssigkeits-Hauptpumpe (5) und den Oxygenator (6) hinaus auch der Pumpenantrieb MR-conditional, sprich bedingt MR-tauglich ausgestaltet und als Gasexpansionsmotor (3) ausgebildet ist. Die erfindungsgemäße extrakorporale Kreislaufunterstützung ist als Herz-Lungen-Maschine oder als ECMO-Gerät einsetzbar.

Abstract: Die Erfindung betrifft eine Pumpvorrichtung, eine Vorrichtung zur Beatmung sowie ein Verfahren zur Bereitstellung eines Atemgases. Die erfindungsgemäße Lösung lehrt die Verwendung eines speziell geformten Läufers und einer korrespondierenden Pumpkammer, sodass ein etwa sinusförmiger Flow eines ausströmenden Fluids ermöglicht ist. Bei der Kombination von zwei erfindungsgemäßen Pumpkammern mit zueinander um 180° phasenversetzt angetriebenen Läufern ist so ein nahezu konstanter Flow an einem gemeinsamen Auslass realisierbar. Darüber hinaus ist das erfindungsgemäße System auf eine hohe Dynamik bei gleichzeitig relativ geringer Energieaufnahme ausgelegt.

Abstract: This disclosure provides an oxygen delivery and reclamation system that supplies breathable oxygen-enriched gas to one or more users in a chamber. The one or more users receive oxygen at specified oxygen level setpoints. Exhalation air from the one or more users may be purged from the breathing loop using one or both of a recycle pump and an electronically actuated valve. Exhalation air in a purge line and optionally chamber air pulled from the chamber may be recycled using an oxygen concentrator. The oxygen concentrator generates oxygen-enriched gas and oxygen-depleted gas, where the oxygen-enriched gas may be delivered back to one or more users in the chamber.
