Abstract: A face mask (90) comprises an instrument shielding apparatus (91) which comprises an instrument shielding device (92) which is connected to the face mask (90) by an adapter (89). The adapter (89) comprises an instrument accommodating housing (15) through which an instrument bore (25) extends therethrough. The instrument accommodating housing (15) terminates at one end in a first main port (20) engageable with an instrument port (7) of the face mask (90), and in the other end in a second main port (23). The instrument shielding device (92) comprises a shielding sleeve (95) a first end (96) of which is secured by a coupling ring (98) to the second main port (23) of the adapter (89), and a second end (97) of which is secured in a storage chamber (94) of a sleeve storing housing (93) of the instrument shielding device (92). The sleeve storing housing (93) is sealably engageable with a proximal end (58) of an endoscope (10), and the shielding sleeve extends from a collapsed stored state in the storage chamber (94) to the adapter (89) for shielding the endoscope (10).

Abstract: A system and method for managing a respiratory condition of a user is disclosed. The system includes an oxygen concentrator having a compression system configured to generate oxygen enriched air for delivery to the user. A physiological sensor is configured to collect physiological data of the user. The physiological data is of one or more data types. An operational sensor is configured to collect operational data of the oxygen concentrator during operation of the oxygen concentrator. The operational data is of one or more data types. A processor is configured to receive the collected physiological data and the operational data and compute a summary parameter for values of each data type. The processor is also configured to compute a health score from the summary parameter values.

Abstract: A breathing apparatus includes a first air pathway for receiving ambient air and channeling the air through a portion of the breathing apparatus, a heating section operatively coupled to the first air pathway and configured to elevate a temperature of the ambient air in the first air pathway to a first prescribed temperature, and a cooling section operatively coupled to the first air pathway and configured to reduce the temperature of the ambient air heated by the heating section to a second prescribed temperature, the second prescribed temperature lower than the first prescribed temperature. A breathing circuit is coupled to the first air pathway and configured to provide the cooled air to a user.

Abstract: The invention relates to a ventilator system comprising an inspiratory gas supply subsystem for supplying gas at a pressure above ambient atmospheric pressure, a ventilator module connectable therewith through a gas supply pipe system allowing gas communication, and comprising a gas discharge pipe system for discharging gas from the ventilator module, characterised by comprising a plurality of ventilator modules each having an inlet side and an outlet side, the gas supply pipe system comprising an inspiratory bus having a gas inlet segment and comprising a plurality of inspiratory pipes which are connected directly or indirectly to the inspiratory bus downstream of the gas inlet segment, each inspiratory pipe is connected to or connectable to the inlet side of one of the plurality of ventilator modules, and the inspiratory gas supply subsystem is connected to the gas inlet segment of the inspiratory bus for delivering inspiratory gas at a first pressure higher than the ambient atmospheric pressure into the gas inlet segment, the gas discharge pipe system comprising an expiratory bus having a gas outlet segment and comprising a plurality of expiratory pipes which are connected directly or indirectly to the expiratory bus upstream of the gas outlet segment, and each expiratory pipe is connectable to the outlet side of one of the plurality of ventilator modules, the ventilator system further comprising an expiratory gas discharge subsystem being in gas communication with the gas outlet segment of the expiratory bus for producing a second pressure lower than the ambient atmospheric pressure in the gas outlet segment.

Abstract: Apparatus, systems and methods are described, such as for providing, or controlling mechanical ventilation provided to, a patient. A controller may control a gas delivery system to deliver gas to the patient according to a FiO2 setting and a PEEP setting. The controller may adjust the FiO2 setting to an updated FiO2 setting based at least in part on a determined oxygen concentration of the patient's blood and may update the PEEP setting based at least in part on the updated FiO2 setting. Furthermore, the controller may update the PEEP setting based at least in part on the updated FiO2 setting and the current PEEP setting. An updated PEEP setting may be based at least in part on PEEP change eligibility rules and PEEP selection rules. The FiO2 setting may be adjusted so as to relatively rapidly increase the FiO2 setting in response to a rapidly decreasing patient SpO2.

In an example implementation, an infection control tent includes a cover that forms a space in which a patient can be positioned, the cover creating an infectious barrier between the patient and an external environment, one or more support channels integrated into the cover that provide a rigid structure to the cover, and a drape skirt that connects to an edge of the cover and drapes over a portion of the patient.

Abstract: A filtered face mask (10) for CPAP applications includes a body (12), an inlet port (18), a mouth portion (20) having a mouth exhaust port (26), a nose portion (24) having a nose exhaust port (22), adjustable straps (24), a seal (16), a mouth exhaust filter (30) disposed over mouth exhaust port (26), a nose exhaust filter (40) disposed over nose exhaust port (22), and an intake filter disposed over the inlet port (18). Inlet port (18) may be configured for attachment to a gas supply tube that is attached to a CPAP device on the other end. The mouth exhaust filter (30), nose exhaust filter (40), and intake filter may each comprise a particulate filter capable of blocking the passage of pathogens. A disposable filter patch (30) and a method of operating a positive airway pressure device are also disclosed herein.
