본 발명은 신규한 유기염료 및 이의 제조방법에 관한 것으로, 전자 공여체로서 특정 지방족 화합물을, 중간 연결부분(스페이서(spacer))에 티오펜계 또는 디하이드로티오펜계 유닛을 갖는 본 발명의 염료 화합물은 염료감응태양전지(dye-sensitized solar cell, DSSC)에 사용되어 종래의 염료보다 향상된 몰흡광계수, Jsc(단회로 광전류 밀도) 및 광전기 변환효율을 나타내어 태양전지의 효율을 크게 향상시킬 수 있고, 고가의 칼럼을 사용하지 않고도 정제가 가능하여 염료 합성단가를 획기적으로 낮출 수 있다.

The invention relates to an optical data carrier that contains a preferably transparent substrate that is optionally already coated with one or more reflective layers, onto whose surface an information layer which can be written on with light, optionally one or more reflective layers and optionally a protective layer or a further substrate or a cover layer are applied. Said optical data carrier can be written on and read with blue, red or infrared light, preferably laser light, and the information layer comprises a light-absorbing compound and optionally a binder. The inventive data carrier is further characterized in that at least one merocyanine dye is used as the light-absorbing compound.

The present invention relates to the use of pyridine N-oxide based azo dyes and their metal complexes in optical layers for optical data recording, preferably for optical data recording using a blue laser with a wavelength up to 450 nm or a red laser with a wavelength up to 650 nm. The invention further relates to a write only read many (WORM) type optical recording medium capable of recording and reproducing information with radiation of a blue or red laser, which employs a pyridine N-oxide based azo dye or a respective metal complex in the optical layer.
