Abstract:
Abstract:
A method for conditioning a metering blade of a paper coating machine. The method includes the steps of providing a paper coating machine having at least one metering blade and passing a movable substrate through the paper coating machine such that the metering blade contacts the substrate to distribute any coatings applied to the substrate. The method further includes the step of applying a solution of abrasive material to the substrate at a location upstream of the metering blade such that the abrasive material engages and conditions the blade.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a backing lath (6, 14) used for coating a web of paper or paperboard in doctor blade and rod caters and film-transfer coaters, the backing lath featuring a fiber-reinforced composite material body. When necessary, the backing lath can be surfaed with a wear-resistant coating. The invention also concerns a doctor element assembly, wherein the backing lath has fiber-reinforced composite material body.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a support plate of a doctor of a fiber web machine. The support plate (10) is designed to be removably fitted in a doctor (15). The support plate (10) includes sensor devices (18). The invention also relates to a doctor assembly of a fiber web machine and a method in a doctor of a fiber web machine.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a doctor blade which is used in paper machines for guiding the paper web and for the maintenance of the roller or rollers of the paper machines. At least one rivet (2) has been fitted into the doctor blade for fastening the doctor blade (1) to its intended holder (4). The doctor blade is made of a composite material, such as a carbon fiber composite, and the rivet or rivets (2) in the doctor blade are made of a plastic material.
Abstract:
The method is for applying a coating on a paper substance. A paper moves over a set of rollers. A coating is applied with a coating applicator that has ultrasonic transducers to vibrate the coating to reduce the viscosity of the coating. A downstream blade has an ultrasonic transducer in operative engagement with the blade. The vibrating blade is applied to the paper for scraping off excessive coating from the paper.

Abstract:
An illustrative lubricant applicator includes a body comprising an inner surface defining a lumen, an outer surface, and a connector fluidly connected to the lumen. The connector is configured to receive a lubricating fluid and convey the lubricating fluid to the lumen. A plurality of openings connects the lumen to the outer surface of the body. The lubricant applicator is configured for connection to a coaler blade at a position such that the plurality of openings are configured to deliver the lubricant to an edge region of paper and a backing drum during coating of the paper.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The invention relates to a doctor blade (1), having a multiple layer coating. The coating comprises at least one electrolytically puls-plated abrasion resistant nickel composite layer and at least one outer electrolytically puls-plated low-friction nickel and/or nickel composite layer. It also relates to the use of a coated steel strip for a doctor blade and a method for the manufacture of said doctor blade from a steel strip. The blade according to the invention exhibits both an even and a smooth surface with a lubricating effect, a good abrasion resistance and the blade may be tailored to needs of the individual printer.
