Abstract:
The invention relates to methods of preconditioning pretreated lignocellulose-containing material in the presence of a combination of laccase and beta-glucosidase. The invention also relates to processes of producing sugars and fermentation products including a step of preconditioning pretreated lignocellulose-containing material in the presence of a combination of laccase and beta-glucosidase. The invention also relates to compositions suitable for preconditioning.
Abstract:
This application relates to laccase variants and uses thereof as eco-friendly biocatalysts in various industrial processes. More in particular, the disclosure relates to a polypeptide with laccase activity comprising an amino acid sequence that is more than 80% identical to the amino acid sequence according to SEQ ID NO: 1, wherein the polypeptide comprises a non-polar amino acid, preferably an amino acid residue selected from the group consisting of proline, alanine, glycine and valine at a position corresponding to amino acid 113 of SEQ ID NO: 1.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention is in the field of paper production, more in particular it relates to the process of wood pulping. It provides useful biological methods and compounds for reducing the energy requirements of the production of wood pulp. It describes a method for reducing the energy requirement of a thermo-mechanical pulping (TMP) process wherein cellulose fibers are recovered from a biomass comprising lignocellulosic material, wherein the lignocellulosic material is treated with a CotA laccase before recovering the cellulose from the lignocellulosic material.
Abstract:
Aspects of the present disclosure are drawn to methods of improving the expression of secreted cuproenzymes from host cells by manipulating the expression level of one or more proteins involved in copper transport in the host cell, e.g., membrane-bound copper transporting ATPases and soluble copper transporters. The present disclosure also provides compositions containing such improved host cells as well as products derived from the improved host cells that contain one or more cuproenzymes of interest.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a process for depolymerization of lignin, comprising a step of oxidation of non-phenolic lignin by bringing together, in at least one solvent, non-phenolic lignin, laccase, a redox mediator and an oxygen source, by virtue of which a mixture comprising oxidized non-phenolic lignin is obtained, and a step of depolymerization of the resulting oxidized non-phenolic lignin, by addition of an oxidizing agent, said non-phenolic lignin being obtained from phenolic lignin by functionalization of phenol functions of said phenolic lignin.
