Abstract:
An apparatus for obtaining an image of a tooth having at least one light source providing incident light having a first spectral range for obtaining a reflectance image (122) from the tooth and a second spectral range for exciting a fluorescence image (120) from the tooth. A polarizing beamsplitter (18) in the path of the incident light from both sources directs light having a first polarization state toward the tooth and directs light from the tooth having a second polarization state along a return path toward a sensor (68), wherein the second polarization state is orthogonal to the first polarization state. A first lens (22) in the return path directs image-bearing light from the tooth toward the sensor (68), and obtains image data from the portion of the light having the second polarization state. A long-pass filter (15) in the return path attenuates light in the second spectral range.
Abstract:
The color of a measurement object, such as a vital tooth, and the color of a comparison object to be compared with the measurement object are displayed to a user in an easily comparable manner. The invention provides an image combining apparatus including an image extracting unit for extracting an image of a vital tooth (hereinafter referred to as 'measurement-object image') from a color image of the vital tooth and extracting an image of a shade guide (hereinafter referred to as 'comparison-object image') from a color image of the shade guide, a combining-reference-line setting unit for setting combining reference lines on the measurement-object image and the comparison-object image, a combining unit for combining the measurement-object image and the comparison-object image to form a combined image, and a correction unit for correcting at least one of the measurement-object image and the comparison-object image so as to align their outlines on the combining reference line in the combined image when the outlines are not aligned.
Abstract:
An object is to represent the difference of colors of a vital tooth and a tooth sample in a highly precise manner and to compare the colors in a relatively easy manner. The invention provides a dental colorimetry apparatus including a shade-guide-information storage unit configured to store acquired image data of a tooth sample and colorimetric information of each pixel acquired on the basis of the acquired image data; a pixel extracting unit configured to acquire reference colorimetric information used as a reference when carrying out a comparison with the vital tooth, to compare the reference colorimetric information and the colorimetric information for each pixel of the tooth sample, and to extract pixels whose comparison results satisfy a predetermined condition; an image-generating unit configured to create a sample comparison image in which a third pixel group including pixels extracted by the pixel extracting unit and a fourth pixel group including pixels that are not extracted are represented by different colors; and a display device configured to display the sample comparison image created by the image-generating unit.
Abstract:
Manufacturing of tooth prosthesis, for insertion in a jawbone, comprising an implant and an abutment on top of the implant. The method comprises: defining a shape of the prosthesis and its location in the jawbone by using first data from a first CT scan image of the jawbone and second data from a second image of a gypsum cast, correlating first and second data by extracting from the first data first position reference data of a first reference in the first image, and from the second data second position reference data of a second reference in the second image, the second reference being identical to the first reference; performing a geometric transformation on the second data and/or the first data to have a coincidence of the second image with the first image and to combine the first and second data into composite scan data.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an attachment for or on an illumination device for preferably uneven surfaces, in particular, surfaces of teeth and/or for or on a detection unit, in particular an intra-oral camera, whereby the illumination device and/or the detection unit comprises at least one light source. The attachment (1) comprises a guide body (2), embodied as a single transparent, preferably homogenous, colourless and/or optically clear body, with an essentially planar light incident surface (6) and a light emitter surface (4) and a transparent, preferably homogenous, colourless and/or optically clear cushion body (3) connected to the guide body (2) or to the light emitter surface (4) of the guide body (2) with a positive or optionally material connection.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a device for measuring dental shade comprising: - illumination means (24, 40, 42, 44, 48, 50), for successively illuminating at least one part of a tooth (D) with light of various spectral ranges, - at least one sensor (26) sensitive to light coming from said tooth part, in response to the illumination, to generate for each different color of illumination, at least one measurement signal, - means (30, 32) for converting the measurement signals corresponding to said tooth part, into the coordinates of a measurement point (202), in a shade space in which 'reference' points (320, 410, 540) are also defined, corresponding to the preset shades of a dental shade guide, and - search means (114), for the tooth part, for a shade corresponding to the reference point closest to the measurement point, in the shade space.
Abstract:
An image processing system is used for dentistry. Upon creating a false tooth of a patient (59), a plurality of illuminating light of LEDs with different wavelengths emit light and a photographing apparatus (1A) photographs a tooth portion of the patient (59), thereby obtaining image data. The image data is sent to a dentistry filing system (2A) serving as a processing apparatus, and color reproducing data is obtained by calculation. The color reproducing data is sent to a dentistry factory (55) via a public line. Data is searched from a database (56) for calculating a ceramic compounding ratio, compound data of the ceramic false tooth is obtained, matching the color of the tooth portion of the patient (59), and the false tooth approximate to the tooth color of the patient (59) is created.
Abstract:
A method for determining visual colorimetric values for an object having particular spectral reflectance characteristics comprises the steps of: (a) photographing an object with an electronic image capture device to form device image values; (b) selecting a transform from a plurality of transforms for converting device image values to visual colorimetric values, wherein the selection of the transform is based on the particular spectral reflectance characteristics of the object; and (c) applying the selected transform to the device image values to determine the visual colorimetric values for the object.
