The present invention relates to a device for obtaining a vital sign of a subject, comprising an interface (20) for receiving a set of image frames of a subject, a motion analysis unit (30) for analyzing at least one measurement area within the image frames of the set of image frames and for characterizing motion of the subject within the set of image frames, a signal extraction unit (40) for extracting photoplethysmographic, PPG, signals from the set of image frames using the characterization of motion of the subject within the set of image frames, and a vital signs determination unit (50) for determining vital sign information from the extracted PPG signals. The motion analysis unit comprises a motion estimation unit (32), a spatial characteristic extraction unit (34), and a motion characterization unit (36).

An apparatus and method for non-invasive determination of hydration, hydration state, total body water, or water concentration by quantitative spectroscopy. The system includes subsystems optimized to contend with the complexities of the tissue spectroscopy, high signal-to-noise ratio and photometric accuracy requirements, tissue sampling errors, calibration maintenance, and calibration transfer. The subsystems include an illumination subsystem, a tissue sampling subsystem, a spectrometer subsystem, a data acquisition subsystem, a computing subsystem, and a calibration subsystem.

A blood vessel pulse wave measurement system performs vessel pulse wave measurement using an optical probe circuit provided with an optical probe including a light emitting element and a light receiving element, a drive circuit, and a detection circuit. A measurement device directly and synchronously feeds back an electrical signal from the optical probe to the drive circuit as a drive signal to generate a self-oscillation signal from the detection circuit, and measures the self-oscillation signal as a vessel pulse wave signal. A controller controls an operating point of at least one of the detection circuit and the drive circuit such that the self-oscillation signal substantially reaches a maximum level thereof.

A heart rate monitor is disclosed comprising two main components: a user system in form of a wristwatch type device including a plurality of sensors, and a second device, such as a smart phone, that receives and processes the transmitted sensor signals. The user system includes an optical blood concentration sensing system (310) for detecting the heart rate, a motion sensor (320) to sense changes in the position of the user system with respect to the skin in order to compensate for noise, and an accelerometer (330) to provide information about the motion of the user system with respect to the user's heart. A heart rate Kalman filter is configured to compute a heart rate on the basis of signals obtained from the plurality of sensors.

The invention relates to the field of ophthalmic systems and procedures. In particular, the invention relates to the determination of the post-operative position of an intraocular lens (termed “IOL”) in an eye of a patient undergoing lens replacement surgery, which involves determining the position of the existing crystalline lens in the pre-operative eye of the patient and using that information and a single numerical constant to predict the post-operative intraocular lens position. Related methods, and computer programs for performing the methods of the invention, are also disclosed.
