Une composition organique de fibres comprend environ 5 à 50 % en volume de fibres ou de barbes réparties uniformément, non planes ou orientées de manière tridimensionnelle aléatoire, ainsi qu'une matière thermoplastique telle que de la cire de paraffine. Ladite composition comprend également des tensio-actifs favorisant l'humidification et la dispersion desdites fibres ou barbes inorganiques. On soumet ces matières à un mélange de cisaillement élevé afin de former une dispersion tridimensionnelle uniforme orientée de manière aléatoire, de fibres ou de barbes inorganiques. Après le moulage dudit mélange de cette manière afin de ne pas affecter l'orientation tridimensionnelle uniforme des fibres ou des barbes, on élimine une majorité de la matière thermoplastique pour ne laisser qu'un corps façonné ou préforme présentant une résistance suffisante pour être manipulé. On peut ensuite infiltrer du métal fondu ou analogue dans le corps façonné ou préforme, afin de former un composite matriciel métallique.

Components for semiconductor diffusion furnaces are constructed of a high purity impervious silicon carbide or silicon nitride matrix deposited on a pre-shaped fibrous matrix of silicon carbide, carbon, or carbon coated silicon carbide. The high purity of the matrix prevents undesired gaseous components from contaminating the atmosphere of the furnace, and the fibrous re-enforcement provides strength combined with light weight.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Faserverbundkeramik und ein Verfahren zu ihrer Herstellung. Das Verfahren besteht darin, daß in einem ersten Schritt Fasern mit einem schmelzflüssigen Polysilazan imprägniert, in einem zweiten Schritt das Polysilazan in den Fasern in den unschmelzbaren Zustand überführt und in einem dritten Schritt die imprägnierten Fasern auf 800 bis 2000 °C in Stickstoff-, Edelgas- oder Ammoniak-Atmosphäre erhitzt.
