    摘要: An end module assembly has an internal support structure (100). An exterior fascia is mounted to the internal support structure. The fascia is configured to be a portion of a vehicle body assembly when the end module assembly is installed on the vehicle. An external visible component is mounted to the support structure in a fixed relationship with respect to the fascia in proper alignment with respect to the fascia with a surface thereof facing exteriorly of the fascia. A bumper beam (112) and bumper beam mounting structure connects the bumper beam to the internal support structure. A mounting structure is connected to the support structure for attaching the support structure to mounting points on the partially completed motor vehicle. The mounting structure permits selective repositioning of the end module assembly in a longitudinal, vertical and horizontal direction relative to the partially completed motor vehicle whereby the fascia is alignable with respect to the remaining portions of the vehicle body assembly prior to secure engagement of the end module to the partially completed motor vehicle.

    摘要: A bireflective lens element comprising a light input surface and a direct transmitting area communicating with the light input surface. A light source is disposed adjacent to the light input surface for projecting light into the lens element to create a light emitting assembly. A first portion of input light is directed through the lens elements in a first predetermined pattern. A primary and a secondary reflecting area is between the light input surface and an illumination surface surrounding the direct light transmitting area. A second portion of input light is redirected through the lens element to the illumination surface in a second predetermined pattern. Specifically, the secondary reflective area has a plurality of extracting facets extending inwardly into the secondary reflective area for intercepting light from the primary reflective area. The first predetermined pattern combines with the second predetermined pattern to output light from the illumination surface in a substantially uniform pattern covering the broad area of the lens element.

    摘要: A method and apparatus for manufacturing an injection-molded article having an outer film (28) on an exposed surface. The method includes securing the film about its periphery within a mold cavity prior to injection of molten material into the cavity. One way of securing the film (28) is by applying vacuum pressure through peripheral holes (24) in a frame (20) surrounding the mold cavity (16). Molten material is injected into the cavity, behing the film (28) and the film slips from its initial position to be forced against a wall (32) of the cavity by molten material (33) being injected into the cavity. The apparatus includes a frame (20) for a molding apparatus, adapted to initially secured the film (28) in place prior to movement of the core block (14) into place and to permit the film (28) to slip from its initial position to be forced against the cavity wall (32) as molten material fills the cavity.

A reflector is provided in the assembly housing, either as a separate body or as an integrally formed surface, and includes a first array of reflecting surfaces inclined to direct light from the light sources in the first lighting circuit through a first region of the outer lens and a second array of reflecting surfaces inclined to direct light from the light sources in the second lighting circuit through a second region of the outer lens. Light sources whose emitted light is absorbed by the outer lens to a larger degree than other light sources in the assembly can have an array of collimating lenses placed in the light path to improve their efficiency.
