摘要: A metal air battery system includes an air intake apparatus configured to draw external air, a metal air battery module configured to receive oxygen from the air intake apparatus to perform a discharging reaction, and comprising at least one inlet through configured for oxygen inflow and at least one outlet configured for oxygen outflow, and a flow path connection unit connecting the air intake apparatus to the metal air battery module. A position of the at least one inlet and a position of the at least one outlet is con figured to alternate between a first opening in the metal air battery module and a second opening in the metal air battery module as the metal air battery module is discharged, and the metal air battery system is configured so that at least a portion of the oxygen in the metal air battery module is removed during a charging reaction.

摘要: Provided is a rechargeable electrochemical cell system for generating electrical current using a fuel and an oxidant. The system includes a plurality of electrochemical cells. A controller is configured to apply an electrical current between charging electrode(s) and a fuel electrode with the charging electrode(s) functioning as an anode and the fuel electrode functioning as a cathode, such that reducible metal fuel ions in the ionically conductive medium are reduced and electrodeposited as metal fuel in oxidizable form on the fuel electrode. The controller may selectively apply current to a charging electrode and third electrode between fuel electrodes of separate cells to increase uniformity of the metal fuel being electrodeposited on the fuel electrode. The controller controls a number of switches to apply current to the electrodes and select different modes for the system. Also provided are methods for charging and discharging an electrochemical cell system, and selecting different modes.

摘要: The present disclosure relates to a lithium oxygen battery with a non-aqueous flowable semi-solid catholyte comprising an electrolyte, dissolved oxygen and carbonaceous particles which are not soluble in the catholyte. The battery also comprises a lithium anode, electrical contacts, an oxygen inlet, a porous cathode current collector and a pump. The oxygen-enriched catholyte is pumped through the cell of the battery and the oxygen redox reaction may take place on the carbonaceous particles which form a conducting percolating network. Also disclosed is a semi-solid, non-aqueous catholyte comprising an electrolyte, dissolved oxygen and carbonaceous particles; the use of the lithium oxygen battery; and the use in electric vehicle and for stationary applications.
