The paste forms spontaneously upon addition of the liquid, hence no mechanical mixing is required for said paste to form. Pluripotent stem cells, other cells, and biologic constituents of the dental pulp (part of 124) may be harvested from the dental pulp of mammalian teeth, such as unerupted third molars in humans. After the stem cells are removed and isolated from the other teeth tissue, the hard tooth may be ground into a base material for the manufacture of a porous matrix into which the pluripotent stem cells, other cells, and biologic constituents of the dental pulp can be added. Additionally, soft tissue (134) from the harvested tooth may be used as a carrier scaffold for soft tissue applications such as meniscal or cartilage repair.

A bone cement composition includes a powder comprising a basic source of calcium, magnesium, or strontium, a setting solution comprising H3PO4 and a buffer, and a biocompatible polymer that is incorporated into the setting solution. The powder is mixed with the setting solution to form a bone cement paste that either (a) sets into a hardened mass, or (b) is irradiated with electromagnetic radiation to form dry powders, the dry powders then being mixed with a second setting solution to form a radiation-assisted bone cement paste that sets into a hardened mass.

A process for the preparation of a tissue matrix suitable for regenerative repair of tissues, including contacting an isolated connective tissue with an amount of detergent and an amount of disinfectant to significantly reduce at least one of lipids, phospholipids, nucleic acids, major histocompatibility (MHC) antigens, contaminating microorganisms, and endotoxins. The process further provides for less significant reduction in proteoglycan content while retaining the overall structure of the tissue matrix produced. Processing may further include micronizing the tissue matrix. Also, a tissue matrix having a scaffold portion and non-structural portion, collectively structured to promote cellular infiltration, attachment, and proliferation. The tissue matrix may be in the form of a sheet, thick sheet, or micronized. Also, kits including a prepared tissue matrix for use in regenerative repair, and kits for preparing a tissue matrix.

Therapeutic compositions and/or formulations are provided, comprising: at least one cross-linked protein matrix, wherein the at least one cross-linked protein matrix comprises at least one protein residue and at least one saccharide-containing residue, and methods of producing the same. The cross-linked protein matrix may be derived from cross-linking a full length or substantially full length protein, such as tropoelastin, elastin, albumin, collagen, collagen monomers, immunoglobulins, insulin, and/or derivatives or combinations thereof, with a saccharide containing cross-linking agent, such as a polysaccharide cross-linking agent derived from, for example, hyaluronic acid or a cellulose derivative. The therapeutic compositions may be administered topically or by injection. The present disclosure also provides methods, systems, and/or kits for the preparation and/or formulation of the compositions disclosed herein.
