The methods of the present invention are directed to synthetic reactions involving indoles and halo-quinones in solvent and in the presence of a metal carbonate. This invention is directed to methods for treatment of non-insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus, for reducing blood glucose levels, or hyperglycemia. The methods entail administering to a mammal in need of such treatment a therapeutically effective amount of a composition whose active ingredient consists essentially of a compound of structure (I) or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof. In the compound R and R' are independently H or a C1-C20 alkyl or C2-C20 alkenyl group which may be substituted or unsubstituted. Alternatively, R and R' are such that together a cycloalkyl or cycloalkenyl ring is formed. Aqueous, non-buffered solutions containing high concentrations of fibronectin and other wound healing promoters are produced, which can then be used to make topical gel and cream formulations with high concentrations wound healing promoters. The formulations are used for the healing of cutaneous wounds. The formulations provide slow release and increased contact time of fibronectin and of other wound healing promoters to the wound site leading to the effective absorption of the promoters.

Such a method and multicomponent construct are illustrated in the figure. The invention further provides nucleic acid components, each nucleic acid component comprising a double stranded nucleic acid molecule having at least one single stranded 5' or 3' terminal sequence, the terminal sequence having sufficient complementarity to either a terminal sequence in a separate nucleic acid component or a sequence in a linking nucleic acid molecule so as to allow for specific annealing of complementary sequences and linkage of the components in a predetermined order. Kits containing reagents required to practice the method of the invention are also provided.

The present invention relates to composite articles including a surface layer (4) of tin, lead, silver or an alloy thereof that contains co-deposited non-ionic polymeric particles to provide a reduced-friction deposit that has an initially low coefficient of friction and low insertion force and fretting corrosion in separable electronic connectors, and to methods for preparing the plated articles. The polymeric particles have a size between about 0.1 to 0.45 ν in diameter to reduce the coefficient of friction of the resultant deposit to about 0.45 or below. Also, the deposit has excellent electrical properties and can be successfully soldered. The invention also relates to a solution for plating the surface layer (4) of the composite articles, which surface layer (4) reduces insertion force and fretting corrosion of separable electronic connectors.

The present invention relates to monoclonal antibodies that bind to the extracellular domain of prostate specific membrane antigen (PSMA), hybridoma cell lines producing the antibodies, and methods of using such antibodies for diagnosis and treatment of cancer. In particular, it relates to three monoclonal antibodies reactive with PSMA expressed on the cell surface and in sera of prostate cancer patients. Additionally, the present invention relates to a novel protein variant (PSM') of PSMA detected by an antibody of the invention. The hydrolase activity of PSMA and PSM' allows the use of an immunoenzymatic assay for their detection.
