Provided are a halogen-free flame-retardant resin composition containing a metal hydroxide as a flame retardant, the resin composition having good flame retardancy even when a mixing proportion of the metal hydroxide is reduced and having good print quality, a flame-retardant heat-shrinkable tube formed by using the flame-retardant resin composition, and a flame-retardant insulated electric wire including an insulating coating formed by using the flame-retardant resin composition. The flame-retardant resin composition contains a thermoplastic resin, a metal hydroxide, and a modified silicone having, at an end thereof, a functional group having a carbon-carbon double bond. A content of the metal hydroxide is 85 to 190 parts by mass relative to 100 parts by mass of the thermoplastic resin, and a content of the modified silicone is 0.05% to 5% by mass relative to the metal hydroxide. The flame-retardant heat-shrinkable tube is formed by using the flame-retardant resin composition. The flame-retardant insulated electric wire includes an insulating coating formed by using the flame-retardant resin composition.

(7) An article comprising the flame-retardant resin composition cross-linked especially by irradiation with ionizing radiation. They are free from the problem of producing harmful gas when burned and excellent in mechanical strength and flame-retardance. The insulating electric wire and the flat cable are preferably applied to internal wiring of consumer electronic apparatus, vehicles, and ships.

A non-crosslinked flame-retardant resin composition which comprises (A) a non-crosslinked base resin comprising a propylene based resin comprising 50 wt % or more of a propylene monomer and, incorporated therein, (B) a metal hydrate, (C) a hindered phenol based antioxidant, (D) a sulfur based antioxidant and (E) a metal oxide; a non-halogen insulated electric wire using said composition as an insulating coating material; and a wire harness using said wire in the wire bundle thereof. An imidazole compound and an oxide of zinc are preferably used as the (D) component and the (E) component, respectively. The non-crosslinked flame-retardant resin composition exhibits satisfactory flame retardancy, mechanical characteristics, flexibility and processability, is free from deterioration over a long period of time, and is excellent in heat resistance characteristics.

A hot-melt adhesive comprises a resin composition comprising (a) from 0.1 to 50 parts by weight of a polyolefin resin obtained by copolymerizing 80% by weight or more of a non-polar alpha -olefin with 20% by weight or less in total of a monomer containing 5% by weight or more of a carboxyl group and a polar alpha -olefin, or with 20% by weight or less in total of a monomer containing 0.5% by weight or more of an acid anhydride group and a polar alpha -olefin, (b) from 0 to 80 parts by weight of a copolymer of ethylene and a non-polar alpha -olefin, or a polyolefin resin containing 20% by weight or less of a polar alpha -olefin, and (c) from 10 to 90 parts by weight of a polyamide, provided that the total amount of the components (a), (b) and (c) is 100 parts by weight, the resin composition having a melt index of 5 g/10 min or more and less than 500 g/10 min. The hot-melt adhesive resin composition of the invention has excellent adhesiveness to both non-polar and polar adherends. A heat recoverable article using the hot-melt adhesive is valuable for processing a joint and an end of electric cables.
