Selon un procédé de recouvrement de bandes métalliques par laquage de bandes, on utilise des enduits composés de systèmes résistants à des températures élevées (polyesterimides, acides polyamidocarboniques, polyamidimides, polyhydantoïnes et polybismaléinimides), de pigments et/ou de charges, d'additifs, d'adjuvants, de solvants et de mélanges de solvants appropriés. Le laquage se fait par l'application d'une ou de deux couches. Comme couches de fond, on utilise en tant que systèmes résistants à des températures élevées uniquement des polyesterimides et des polyhydantoïnes, alors que pour les couches de couverture on utilise tous les systèmes mentionnés résistants à des températures élevées. Les bandes métalliques ainsi revêtues présentent une bonne déformabilité, une dureté élevée, une résistance remarquable à la corrosion, ainsi qu'à des substances chimiques, solvants, eau, huile, chocs et l'effet prolongé de températures élevées, une adhérence et une résistance remarquables à l'impact de pierres, et conviennent notamment pour fabriquer des tuyaux et des pots d'échappement, des tubes d'évacuation d'air, des revêtements de fours et de corps chauffants, des grils et d'autres pièces soumises à de fortes contraintes thermiques.

Various embodiments directed towards methods of applying sizing to fibers are disclosed herein. In some embodiments, solvent can be used to dissolve a sizing material into a solution, which can then be used to coat the fibers. In some embodiments, a water bath is used to coagulate a sizing on the fiber surface and to remove the remove solvent after coating the fibers, so that water vapor can be created during a subsequent drying step as opposed to solvent vapors. In some embodiments, strong acids or strong bases can be used as the solvent.
