The method for designing a more efficient reciprocating piston compressor comprising the steps of: providing an air compressor having a first compression stage adapted for compressing gas from a low pressure to an intermediate pressure and including a first piston connected to reciprocate in a first cylinder, a second compression stage adapted for compressing gas from the intermediate pressure to a higher pressure and including a second piston connected to reciprocate in a second cylinder, and a motor connected to reciprocate said first piston in said first cylinder over a stroke and said second piston in said second cylinder over a stroke; and establishing a sufficiently fewer number of strokes over which the gas to be pressured starting from the atmosphere pressure.

Vorzugsweise findet eine Luftfederbalgeinheit (4) Einsatz, bei welcher eine Ventileinheit (5), eine Steuereinheit (12) und ein Luftfederbalg (2) eine gemeinsame Baueinheit bilden, welche an einem Träger (83) des Nutzfahrzeugs gehalten ist. Erfindungsgemäß verfügt die Luftfederbalgeinheit (4) über einen Sender und/oder Empfänger zur drahtlosen Signalübertragung, wobei über den Empfänger ein Steuersignal einer beabstandet angeordneten Steuereinheit drahtlos an die Luftfederbalgeinheit (4) übertragen werden kann.

The level-control valve device (22) has a drive element that can be mechanically coupled to a vehicle wheel or a vehicle axle. In addition, the level-control valve device (22) has a valve element that is mechanically coupled to the drive element such that a movement of the drive element brings about a change in an operating position of the valve element, whereby a mechanical level-control occurs. Furthermore, the level-control valve device is provided with an electronically controllable actuator (21), by means of which the relative position of the valve element and the drive element can also be changed. The control device (92) according to the invention is provided with a control logic, which generates a control signal at the control output (93) for actuating the actuator.

According to the invention, the first transmitter (13) generates an electromagnetic field, wherein the second receiver (17) detects the electromagnetic field. The second device (15) having the second transmitter (16) generates a signal from the detected field and transmits the signal, which correlates with the distance from the first transmitter (13) to the second receiver (17). The first device (12) having the first receiver (14) receives the signal.
