A method for treating surfaces of cement, concrete, mortar or floor screed comprising applying at least one layer of a composition comprising of 2-20% by weight of particles of plasticized polyvinyl butyral (PVB) dispersed in water in an amount of 100 g/m 2 -600 g/m 2 . This ensures that the surfaces exhibit improved resistance to wear and reduced creation of dust during wear, i.e. a dust binding effect is achieved and protects the surfaces from being stained. The application of the aqueous PVB dispersion provides improved adhesion of conventional top coatings, such as epoxy or polyurethane (PU) based resins and results in a brighter surface on the treated surfaces. A composition and uses are also disclosed.

The above are characterised in being easy to produce, contain no isocyanate groups and form a good ageing-resistant adhesion, in particular, with single component isocyanate-free sealants, cross-linked by means of silane groups.

A concrete material that includes an elastomeric polymer in an amount sufficient to provide flexibility to the resultant material; a silicone resin in an amount sufficient to improve adhesion between the elastomeric polymer and the cement; a cement that has low shrinkage and expansion properties; a filler; and water in an amount sufficient to cure the cement and form the concrete material. The polymer is present in an amount which fills at least some of the pores in the material and the silicone resin helps the polymer bond the filler to the cement. Also, a concrete material property improving additive in the form of a polymer admixture that includes the elastomeric polymer, a silicone resin and at least one solvent in an amount sufficient to form a viscous flowable mass. Another embodiment is a method of forming a concrete material by forming and curing a mixture of the additive, a cement that has low shrinkage and expansion properties, a filler, and water in an amount sufficient to cure the cement. Another embodiment is a method of repairing a crack or fracture in a concrete or cement surface by cleaning surfaces of the crack or fracture to remove loose material and to create a cavity, applying the concrete material of the invention under pressure into the cavity, and allowing the concrete material to cure to repair the crack or fracture. The resultant repaired surface forms yet another embodiment of the invention.

The invention concerns the use of redispersion powder for priming mineral and non-mineral substrates before coating, in particular filling. The redispersion powder based on acrylate and vinyl ester copolymers, in particular vinyl acetate and ethylene, can be used together with the conventional components either as a pourable dry mixture or as a paste (with up to 35 % water). Rather than impairing the adhesion of the filler compound, the high redispersion powder content tends to improve it.

Die Beschichtung umfasst mindestens zwei wenigstens teilweise aus polymerem Werkstoff bestehende Schutz- schichten (1,2), die bezüglich der Baukörperoberfläche (O) übereinanderliegend angeordnet und miteinander schub- und zugfest verbunden sind. Mindestens eine mit Blickrichtung auf die Baukörperoberfläche (O) untenliegende erste Schutzschicht (1) ist als verformungsweiche Polster- und/oder Entkopplungs-und/oder Dämpfungsschicht und mindestens eine mit Blickrichtung auf die Baukörperoberfläche (O) darüberliegende zweite Schutzschicht (2) als Panzer- und/oder Aabdichtungsschicht von hoher Festigkeit, insbesondere hoher Kerb- und/oder Weiterreissfestigkeit, und/oder von hoher Dichtheit ausgebildet.
