Abstract:
A vessel having an opening for receiving the product and walls surrounding the vessel at all sides except the opening. The interior of the vessel is filled with a fluid having a specific gravity lower than a specific gravity of a medium surrounding the walls outside the vessel. While the vessel is oriented with the opening facing downwards, the vessel and/or product is/are conveyed to ensure that the product enters the interior through the opening.
Abstract:
The present disclosure is directed to a method of converting green particles to form finished particles. The apparatus used for sintering incorporates an elongated hollow tube (12), an insulative sleeve there about to define an elevated temperature zone, and a microwave generator (22) coupled through a wave guide into a microwave cavity incorporated the tube. The particles are moved through the tube at a controlled rate to assure adequate exposure to the microwave radiation. A second embodiment sinters a solid part in a cavity or mold.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method and a furnace for electric calcining of carbonaceous material for the production of graphite or graphite-containing material. Carbonaceous materials supplied to the top of a vertically arranged furnace having a cylindrical cross section. The furnace is equipped with one top electrode and one bottom electrode and has means for supplying electric current to the electrodes for heating of the carbonaceous material. The calcined carbonaceous material is discharged at the bottom of the furnace in one stream containing material calcined in the center of the furnace and one stream containing material calcined near the periphery of the furnace.
Abstract:
An apparatus and process for the activation or reactivation of wet or dry carbon in a tubular reactor that consists of two or more sequential sections (9, 20, 26), each section containing a descending column of carbon, with the inlets (12, 21, 30) to introduce steam into any one or more of the sections, and wherein the electric current is fed into the column of carbon of each such section via a graphite block (8, 19, 27) serving as an electrode and positioned at the center of the top of the column by attachment to a steel plate that includes a flat or a V-shaped shelf and that is provided with openings (10, 23, 29) to allow the released gases and vapors to escape.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A carbon baking furnace has at least one vertical baking shaft with a system and method for positioning green carbon bodies to be baked at the top of the vertical baking path and ringing the green carbon bodies with a sacrificial medium such as packing coke. The disclosure provides a system and method for controlling the delivery and removal of the sacrificial medium used to surround the carbon bodies within the baking paths. A volatile extraction system and method are provided. A system and method for unloading baked carbon bodies is disclosed.
