PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently perform a buildup welding on an opening and a surface of a base metal with respect to the base metal having the opening.SOLUTION: A welding method is provided for performing continuous buildup welding on an inner surface 1a of a base metal 1, an inner surface 2a of an opening 2 formed in the base metal 1, and a cut surface R formed to extend from the inner surface 1a of the base metal 1 to the inner surface 2a of the opening 2. The method includes: a step of pre-molding a protrusion 3 having a tack welding surface 3a that is evenly continuous with the inner surface 1a of the base metal 1 extending toward the center C of the opening 2 and having the cut surface R embedded therein, on the base metal 1; followed by a step of performing a first buildup welding 5 for juxtaposing bands of a prescribed width on the inner surface 1a of the base metal 1 and on the tack welding surface 3a; followed by a step of forming the cut surface R by cutting the protrusion 3 along with a portion of the first buildup welding 5 so as to follow the contour of the inner surface 2a of the opening 2; and followed by a step of performing a second buildup welding on the inner surface 2a of the opening 2 and on the cut surface R along the contour of the inner surface 2a of the opening 2 so as to be continuous with the first buildup welding 5.

In a process to run-in a large marine two-stroke diesel engine, the piston rings move up and down in the hard cylinder walls (6) from which they are separated by a metallic soft abrasion agent (7). The metallic abrasion agent is a coating on the piston rings that is softer than the piston rings but no harder than the cylinder lining. The non-wearing structure and abrasion agent are manufactured in a one-stage process.

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for repairing the inner wall of a narrow dent of a metallic member by depositing a metallic underlying layer and a method for providing a protection layer for abrasion on the inner wall of the narrow dent of the metallic member. SOLUTION: In the method for depositing the metallic underlying layer on the inner wall 3, 4 or 5 of the narrow dent 1 of the metallic member 2, a wire electrode 8 is drawn into the dent 1, and is bent toward the inner wall 3, 4 or 5 by means of a guide member 7. The metallic member 2 and the wire electrode 8 are energized to generate arcs for locally melting the wire electrode 8, so that the melted material of the wire electrode 8 is deposited on the inner wall 3, 4 or 5 of the metallic member 2 as the metallic underlying layer 9. PURPOSE:To form a weld bead into a wave shape, and to prevent the propagation of initial cracks to large cracks by responding the rotation of work to be welded and a welding torch holder. CONSTITUTION:The rotation of rotating work 1 to be welded are transduced to pulses by a rotary encoder 2, and the generated pulse signal is put into a motor 4 running in accordance with the number of the pulses, by which a welding torch holder 5 is moved. A reverse signal, such as positive or negative, is applied to the motor 4 at every preset number of the pulses by a preset counter 3 to switch the revolution of the motor 4 to normal or reverse revolution, thereby moving the holder 5 forward or backward. The direction of the bead in the work deposited with the weld bead in the above-mentioned way is not constant with respect to the direction of stress and therefore even if many initical cracks are generated along the bead, the cracks do not propagate to large cracks.
