    Abstract: PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower the number of defects due to breakage in processing in production of a large-scale reflecting mirror, and to attain reduction in processing time and cost. SOLUTION: In an optical device having an optical reflecting mirror 10 using particle-dispersed silicon material containing silicon carbide and silicon, the optical reflecting mirror 10 is constructed of a plurality of segments 11 having identical shape. A plurality of segments 11 are jointed together via their jointing surfaces 14 by reaction sintering. The optical device, further, includes an optical device structure serving as an optical bench, and the optical device structure is constructed by jointing a plurality of honeycomb-structure members having the same shape together by reaction sintering.
