Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode catalyst in which fine catalyst particles are carried uniformly and in high dispersion, and a manufacturing method of the catalyst, and a solid polymer fuel cell using such an electrode catalyst. SOLUTION: This manufacturing method of the electrode catalyst substrate has a carbon membrane forming process of forming a porous carbon membrane on a substrate, a hydrophilizing treatment process to conduct hydrophilizing treatment to the porous carbon membrane, an immersion process to immerse the substrate into a solution in which a catalyst metal ion is dissolved in a polar solvent, and a reduction process to reduce the catalyst metal ion by adding a reductant to the solution. There are provided the electrode catalyst substrate obtained by such a method, and the solid polymer fuel cell using the electrode catalyst obtained by such a method for an anode and/or a cathode. Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high concentration carbon supported catalyst in which the catalytic metal particles have a very small size and a high degree of dispersion despite a high loading of the supported catalyst. SOLUTION: The high concentration carbon supported catalyst has Pt or a Pt alloy supported in an electrically conductive carbon support, wherein the concentration of the supported Pt or Pt alloy is in the range of 50% to 60% by weight, an average particle size is 1 to 5 nm, and a total specific surface area of the carbon supported catalyst is 200 m 2 /g or greater. Such a catalyst can be prepared by a method comprising: at least two-time impregnations of the carbon support with a solvent and a precursor of a catalytic metal to be finally supported; and drying and reducing the carbon support impregnated with the precursor of the catalytic metal, to be performed between the impregnations.
