Abstract:
PURPOSE:To produce an aromatic polyhydric alcohol in a high yield by catalytically hydrocracking an aromatic polybasic carboxylic acid ester. CONSTITUTION:When an aromatic polybasic carboxylic acid ester is catalytically hydrocracked to produce an aromatic polyhydric alcohol, the ester of an aromatic polybasic carboxylic acid with a monohydric alcohol derived from a >=6C alkane is employed as the raw material, and a catalyst containing copper, chromium, barium and/or manganese is also employed as the catalyst in the presence of a basic substance. The aromatic polyhydric alcohol is produced in high conversion and in high selectivity.
Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorene compound excellent in heat resistance and etching resistance. SOLUTION: This bishydroxyphenylindene compound (fluorene compound) is obtained by reacting a phenolic hydroxy group-having fluorene compound with a phenol compound and an aldehyde compound. In the formulas, a ring Z 1 , a ring Z 2 and a ring Z 3 are each an aromatic hydrocarbon ring; R 1a , R 1b , R 2a , R 2b and R 2c are each identically or differently a substituent; k1, k2, m1, m2, m3, n1, n2, n3 are each an integer.
