The device prevents thinning of tracks at the editing point in after-break recording and the disturbance of images immediately after the start. The device does not require a special circuit or complicated software-wise processing, and provides a stabilized slow-reproduced image. Further, in a magnetic recording and reproducing device for intermittent recording, there is no danger of causing thinning to recorded tracks. Thus, a reproduced image of high quality can be obtained.

A reproducing apparatus reproduces information signals recorded multi-segmentally on oblique tracks on a tape. Track ID information recorded in the tracks is detected and compared with a reference frame to obtain a phase difference. The tape transportation is controlled in response to this phase difference to correct a reproduced phase so that it is made to coincide with a reference frame phase, as well as to perform tracking control using a tracking pilot signal recorded on the oblique track together with the information signal.

An optical information recording apparatus optically records digital information on a recording medium, for example, a disc, a tape and so on. The area of an optical spot cannot be made smaller than a minimum area determined by a numerical aperture of an objective lens and the wave length of a reproducing beam. Consequently, this causes a problem that the code of digital signals often fails to be discriminated in reproducing short pits and/or short pit-intervals which are recorded on the recording medium. The apparatus detects a phase difference between each edge of an input digital signal and each corresponding edge of a digital signal reproduced from the recording medium. The edges of a next input digital signal of the same code construction as that of the first input signal are corrected by a correction amount according to the above phase difference, and such operations are repeated whenever input digital signals are inputted. Consequently the apparatus can decrease errors of code discrimination to minimum and achieve high edge correction. Furthermore, since the input digital signal is delayed by a time interval between the recording by the recording head and the reproducing by the reproducing head, edge correction can be achieved with high precision.

The reproducing heads are disposed so as to be angularly apart by about 90 degrees from the recording and erasing heads, and a rotary transformer for reproduction is applied with a shield measure and then, formed as a core independently at an upper portion of the cylinder. An editing apparatus is for use with a tape-form recording medium in which a tracking pilot signal and several synchronizing blocks each of which contains a synchronizing signal, a synchronizing signal number and a recording mode data are multiplex-recorded into a first recording area of each track which has a plurality of recording areas. Using the synchronizing signal and the synchronizing signal number, a pilot sampling signal for determining the timing of sampling the pilot signal and an editing timing signal for determining the recording location in a desired recording area following the first recording area are produced. Using the recording mode data, the discrimination of the current recording mode is carried out. After the tracking control is executed through sampling the tracking pilot signals from adjacent tracks at timing of the pilot sampling signal, a data signal is recorded into the desired recording area after the first recording area according to the editing timing signal.
