Abstract:
A kit and a method for implanting a prosthetic acetabular cup in an acetabular has a prosthetic acetabular cup having an open end for receiving a head of a prosthetic femoral component. The cup has a flange extending outwardly from a surface thereof adjacent the open end. The flange is angled toward the acetabulum. The acetabulum is prepared to receive the prosthetic acetabular cup, the preparation includes forming a circumferential rim shaped seat in the bone around the acetabulum. The cup flange has a maximum diameter less than the outer diameter of the circumferential rim.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for storing a cryogenic fluid, implementing a tank including at least one vessel capable of containing the cryogenic fluid. The method including the following steps: a) placing the tank on, in, or partially in soil including permafrost; b) feeding the cryogenic fluid into the vessel; and c) exchanging heat between the cryogenic fluid and the soil, in order to freeze and/or keep a portion of the soil frozen, such that said portion of the soil can be used as the foundation for the tank.
Abstract:
Methods and systems in a telecommunications network for dynamically providing calling party information to a called party from a calling party. A transfer of calling party information can be initiated from the calling party to the called party utilizing a caller identification mechanism in communication with one or more customer premise equipment devices associated with the telecommunications network. Thereafter, the calling party information can be dynamically displayed for the called party via the caller identification mechanism on a display screen of the customer premise equipment device, thereby permitting the called party to take action regarding the calling party information independent of prior or current telecommunications activities. The calling party information can be stored in a memory location for later retrieval by the called party if the called party does not immediately respond to the transfer of calling party information from the calling party to the called party. The calling party information can also be retrieved from the memory location of the customer premise equipment device, in response to a user input by the called party.
Abstract:
A trial prosthetic hip system has a plurality of trial stems each having a recessed bore in a proximal end thereof. At least three sets of trial necks are provided each having a connection element for inserting into the bore in the trial stems. A first set of trial necks having a valgus offset with one of the necks of the first set being anteverted, one be retroverted and one being neutral in version. A second set of trial necks is provided having a varus offset with one neck of the second set being anteverted, one being retroverted and one being neutral in version. A third set of trial necks is provided being neutral in varus-valgus, one neck of the third set being anteverted, one being retroverted and one being anteverted and each trial neck of the first, second and third sets having a coded marking on a proximally facing surface indicating the varus/valgus, anteverted/retroverted and neutral orientations.
Abstract:
An acetabular rim cutter has an annular cutting face provided on a rotatable carrier. A coupler is provided for attaching the carrier to a rotational power source. A guide element is axially aligned with the cutting face to locate and align the cutting face on the acetabulum with which it is to be used. Preferably, the guide element is axially movable in relation to the cutting face and a resilient element is provided for biasing it axially away therefrom.
