摘要: An implant for intraocular drug delivery for the treatment of inflammatory or degenerative diseases. In one embodiment, the implant includes a body portion having a first end portion and a second, opposite end portion and defining a cavity with a first opening at the first end portion, and a second, opposite opening at the second end portion, and a solid material received in the cavity, wherein the solid material comprises a depot material and an effective amount of at least one therapeutic compound or agent. When the implant is implanted in an eye of a living subject, the effective amount of at least one therapeutic compound or agent is released to the environment of the implant through at least one of the first opening and the second, opposite opening over an extended period of time.

摘要: Biocompatible synthetic or natural scaffolds are provided for the reconstruction, repair, augmentation or replacement of organs or tissue structures in a patient in need of such treatment. The scaffolds are shaped to conform to at least a part of the organ or tissue structure and may be seeded with one or more cell populations. Inserts, receptacles and ports are also provided for the attachment of tubular vessels to the neo-organ scaffolds. The seeded scaffolds are implanted into the patient at the site in need of treatment to form an organized organ or tissue structure. The scaffolds may be used to form organs or tissues, such as bladders, urethras, valves, and blood vessels.

摘要: A packaging machine for loading trays with delicate articles such as cakes or tarts comprises a first conveyor for conveying a stream of the articles to be loaded, a plate pivotally mounted at the end of a first conveyor to receive articles from the first conveyor, a stop above the plate to locate on the plate an article fed by the first conveyor, a pusher mounted above the plate and on the same side of the stop as the first conveyor, a second conveyor beneath the plate for conveying the tray to be loaded and a mechanism for moving the plate the stop and the pusher. In use the packaging machine is arranged so that articles from the first conveyor move in turn under the pusher and on to the plate where they are located by the stop, the plate is then tipped, the stop moved away from the article and the pusher moved downwards and away from the first conveyor to push the article on the plate down the plate past the stop and off the plate into a tray on the second conveyor. The plate, the stop andthe pusher are subsequently returned to their initial positions to enable the plate to receive a further article from the first conveyor. The machine is usually arranged to accommodate more than one lane of articles on the plate with one article from each lane located on the plate against the stop.
