The mobile wireless device transmits an uplink resource allocation message to the wireless network, and when receiving no response to the uplink resource allocation message, transmits a random access message to the wireless network. When receiving no response from the wireless network to the random access message, the mobile wireless device executes a radio link failure procedure. In an embodiment, the uplink resource allocation message includes a unique identifier for an existing radio resource control connection between the mobile wireless device and the wireless network.

The UE includes a transceiver, the transceiver configured to enable the UE to establish a connection with a Long Term Evolution (LTE) network and configured to operate using a Connected Discontinuous Reception (CDRX) functionality. The processor controls the transceiver by receiving an uplink (UL) grant at a first subframe of a frame of a cycle of the CDRX functionality, transmitting data based upon the UL grant at a predetermined second subframe, and receiving a response from the LTE network corresponding to one of an acknowledgement (ACK) and a negative ACK (NACK) at a predetermined third subframe. The processor deactivates the transmitter for a remainder of the frame based or deactivates a receiver for a remainder of the frame based upon whether the ACK is received.

Processing circuitry in the wireless device obtains a target average transmit power level. Based on estimates of an actual average transmit power level for a sliding window of a past time period and the target average transmit power level, the processing circuitry determines a target transmit power level, a duty cycle percentage, and a transmit pattern of transmit on frames and transmit off frames for a future time period. The processing circuitry sends to the access network system signaling messages indicating non-zero valued buffer status reports for the transmit on frames and zero valued buffer status reports for the transmit off frames. Non-zero values correspond to actual amounts of pending uplink data, while zero values are sent irrespective of actual uplink buffer status.

In one embodiment, the networks are substantially unsynchronized, and during hybrid network operation (e.g., LTE and CDMA 1X operation), a mobile device can place CDMA 1X voice calls while registered with the LTE network. However, since the LTE and CDMA 1X networks are not coordinated, the mobile device will experience scheduling collisions. In one variant, the LTE network accounts for predictable behaviors (such as CDMA 1X paging), and schedules low priority tasks during likely time interval conflicts. Consequently, even though the mobile device must tune away from the LTE network to check CDMA 1X pages, overall LTE network performance is minimally affected.

    摘要: An accessory wireless device partakes in a data session with a remote device. The data session may be a voice call or other service. To preserve the battery power of the accessory wireless device, the accessory wireless device opportunistically offloads medium-to-long range radio transmission and reception tasks to the companion wireless device while maintaining call continuity. The accessory wireless device and the companion wireless device communicate through a local connection. In one embodiment, the accessory wireless device pushes a wireless wide area network (WWAN) connection to the companion device by sharing selected security and network information with the companion wireless device. When the accessory device and/or the companion device determine that the local connection may not be sustainable, the accessory device pulls the WWAN connection of the companion device back to itself.

Multiple receivers of the wireless device are used to implement carrier aggregation in LTE connected mode. The multiple receivers of the wireless device are used to search for cells concurrently across multiple radio frequency bands and/or multiple radio access technologies during cell selection and/or cell reselection procedures. A first receiver and a second receiver of the wireless device each search for cells over different radio frequency bands simultaneously, and accordingly the cell selection and reselection time is effectively reduced compared to using only one receiver. Multiple receivers are also used concurrently, in parallel, to accelerate inter-frequency cell detection and measurement and for inter-RAT searches and measurements.
