Abstract: The present invention relates to a composition comprising an aqueous dispersion of a) polyisobutylene particles; and b) polyolefin particles, which are polyethylene or polypropylene particles, wherein the weight-to-weight ratio of the polyisobutylene particles to the polyolefin particles is in the range of from 20:80 to 80:20. The composition of the present invention is useful for making coatings on paper or paperboard substrates with excellent moisture barrier and tack properties.

Abstract: The disclosure relates to a tie resin formulation with excellent adhesion to polyethylene terephthalate (PET). The resin includes (A) an ethylene acrylate copolymer formed from ethylene and alkyl acrylate, where the ethylene acrylate copolymer has an acrylate content of 10 to 30 weight percent and an ethylene content of 90 to 70 weight percent based on the total weight of the ethylene acrylate copolymer and the acrylate content and (B) a transesterification catalyst; where the resin includes: 30 to 99.999 weight percent of the ethylene acrylate copolymer based on the total weight of the resin; 0.001 to 10 weight percent of the transesterification catalyst based on the total weight of the resin; and (C) 0 to 69.999 of a non-polar polyolefin based on the total weight of the resin.

Abstract: An aqueous dispersion of a silicone pressure sensitive adhesive base can be combined with a curing agent and cured to form a silicone pressure sensitive adhesive. The aqueous dispersion of the silicone pressure sensitive adhesive base includes a bis-hydroxyl-terminated polydiorganosiloxane; a polyorganosilicate resin; cumene; a surfactant; and water. A curing agent such as a peroxide compound or an aminosilane may be combined with the aqueous disperison of the silicone pressure sensitive adhesive base to form a silicone pressure sensitive adhesive composition. A pressure sensitive adhesive article may be formed by a method including coating a surface of a substrate with the silicone pressure sensitive adhesive composition, removing water, and curing the silicon pressure sensitive adhesive composition to form a silicone pressure sensitive adhesive on the surface of the substrate.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a process. In an embodiment, the process includes providing an aqueous pigment-polyolefin dispersion (P-P dispersion) and applying a grid-pattern of the aqueous P-P dispersion onto a rear encapsulant film. The process includes drying the grid-pattern into a grid layer to form a gridded rear encapsulant film. The process includes placing a plurality of photovoltaic cells and a front encapsulant film onto the gridded rear encapsulant film to form a stack, and laminating the stack to form a reflective photovoltaic (PV) module. The present disclosure also provides a reflective photovoltaic module produced by the process.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides an electrochemical cell. In an embodiment, the electrochemical cell includes a separator disposed between an optional anode and an optional cathode. The separator includes (A) a porous substrate and (B) a porous coating layer on the substrate. The porous substrate (A) is composed of an olefin-based polymer having a melting point, Tm, greater than 130° C. The porous coating layer (B) has a melting temperature from 80° C. to 110° C. The porous coating layer (B) is composed of a plurality of microparticles, and an optional binding agent. The microparticles have an average particle size from 0.3 microns to 1.5 microns. The microparticles are composed of (i) an ethylene-based polymer, having (a) a density from 0.90 g/cc to less than 0.94 g/cc, (b) a Tm from 90° C. to 120° C., (c) a melt index from 30 g/10 min to 600 g/10 min. The microparticles also include (ii) a dispersant composed of a C14-C40 aliphatic fatty acid. The microparticles also include (iii) an optional acid functional wax.
