    Abstract: In some embodiments, torque compensation in a clamping instrument includes control electronics obtaining an initial torque limit for the clamping instrument, adjusting the initial torque limit based on a temperature of a motor assembly used to operate the clamping instrument, and clamping the clamping instrument according to the adjusted torque limit. The adjusted torque limit corresponds to a maximum torque that may be applied by the clamping instrument to perform the clamping. In some embodiments, torque compensation in a stapling instrument includes control electronics obtaining an initial torque limit for the stapling instrument, adjusting the initial torque limit based on a number of times the stapling instrument has been fired, and firing the stapling instrument according to the adjusted torque limit. The adjusted torque limit corresponds to a maximum torque that may be applied by the stapling instrument to perform the firing.

    Abstract: A medical device includes a link, a first tool member, a second tool member and a third tool member, which each have a proximal end portion movably coupled to the link and a distal end portion.     Abstract: A medical device includes a clevis, a first jaw, and a second jaw. The first jaw includes a first proximal gripping portion and a first distal gripping portion, and the first proximal gripping portion includes a first needle alignment portion. The second jaw is coupled to the clevis and includes a second proximal gripping portion and a second distal gripping portion, and the second proximal gripping portion includes a second needle alignment portion. The first and second needle alignment portions are located opposite each other when in the closed orientation. The first and second needle alignment portions define a clamp path when in the closed orientation within which the curved portion of the needle is received when the second jaw is in the open orientation. The first and second needle alignment portions are configured to rotate the needle when moving to the closed orientation.

The tool member has a base portion movably coupled to the transfer member, and a contact portion configured to engage a target tissue. The transfer member is rotatably coupled to the link to rotate with the tool member relative to the link from a first orientation to a second orientation. The non-drive wire has a first end portion coupled to an energy source, a second end portion coupled to the tool member contact portion, and a central portion between the first and second end portions that includes a transition portion disposed within a cavity defined within the base portion of the tool member, a distal portion of the link, or the transfer member, which has a compact first configuration in the first orientation and an expanded second configuration in the second orientation.
