    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for vehicle navigation. In one implementation, at least one processor may receive, from a camera, at least one captured image representative of features in an environment of the vehicle. The processor may identify an intersection and a pedestrian in a vicinity of the intersection represented in the image. The processor may determine a navigational action for the vehicle relative to the intersection based on routing information for the vehicle; and determine a predicted path for the vehicle relative to the intersection based on the determined navigational action and a predicted path for the pedestrian based on analysis of the image. The processor may further determine whether the vehicle is projected to collide with the pedestrian based on the projected paths; and, in response, cause a system associated with the vehicle to implement a collision mitigation action.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for augmenting upright object detection. In one implementation, a system for augmenting detection of objects in an environment of a vehicle may include at least one processing device. The at least one processing device may be programmed to: receive, from an image capture device, a first image frame, the first image frame including an attention area associated with a suspected upright object indication; warp, using a level road plane model, an area in a second earlier image frame that corresponds to the attention area; track a plurality of image patches across the warped area and the attention area; compute a road plane model fit to the tracked image patches; and determine whether to suppress the upright object indication based on the tracked image patches being more consistent with a road plane model than with an upright object model.

    Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for navigating a host vehicle. In an embodiment, a processing device may be configured to receive a captured image acquired by a camera onboard the host vehicle; provide the captured image to an analysis module configured to generate an output including an indicator of a contact position of the occluded pedestrian with the ground surface, the analysis module including a trained model trained based a plurality of training images having been modified to occlude a region where a training pedestrian contacts a training ground surface; receive from the analysis module the generated output, including the indicator of the contact position of the occluded pedestrian with the ground surface; and cause at least one navigational action by the host vehicle based on the indicator of the contact position of the occluded pedestrian with the ground surface.
