Abstract: A system for navigating a host vehicle, includes at least one processor comprising circuitry and a memory, wherein the memory includes instructions that when executed by the circuitry cause the at least one processor to perform operations comprising: receiving from a camera onboard the host vehicle at least one captured image representative of an environment of the host vehicle; detecting, based on analysis of the at least one captured image, a presence of a road covering material on a road segment surface; determining, based on analysis of the at least one captured image, a distance between the camera onboard the host vehicle and the road covering material; and determining a thickness profile of the road covering material based on the determined distance between the camera onboard the host vehicle and the road covering material, and also based on stored three-dimensional profile information associated with the road segment surface.

Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for vehicle navigation. In one implementation, a navigation system for a host vehicle may include at least one processor programmed to receive from a camera onboard the host vehicle at least one captured image representative of an environment of the vehicle; detect a pedestrian represented in the at least one captured image; analyze the at least one captured image to determine an indicator of angular rotation and an indicator of pitch angle associated with a head of the pedestrian represented in the at least one captured image; and cause at least one navigational action by the host vehicle based on the indicator of angular rotation and the indicator of pitch angle associated with the head of a pedestrian.

Abstract: System and techniques for vehicle environment modeling with a camera are described herein. A device for modeling an environment comprises: a hardware sensor interface to obtain a sequence of unrectified images representative of a road environment, the sequence of unrectified images including a first unrectified image, a previous unrectified image, and a previous-previous unrectified image; and processing circuitry to: provide the first unrectified image, the previous unrectified image, and the previous-previous unrectified image to an artificial neural network (ANN) to produce a three-dimensional structure of a scene; determine a selected homography; and apply the selected homography to the three-dimensional structure of the scene to create a model of the road environment.

Abstract: Systems and methods are disclosed for aggregating informational reports. In one implementation, at least one processor may be programmed to receive an informational vehicle report identifying a detected event; store the report in a database in association with a first cell; query a second cell within a predetermined distance of the first cell; and determine whether the second cell is associated with the detected event. When the second cell is associated with the detected event the processor may aggregate information from the first and second cells to provide an aggregated cluster and generate an event report based on the aggregated cluster. When the second cell is not associated with an information cluster associated with the detected event, the processor may generate the event report based on the stored informational vehicle report. The processor may then transmit the event report to one or more vehicles.

Abstract: A traffic light detection system for a vehicle is provided. The system may include at least one processing device programmed to receive, from at least one image capture device, a plurality of images representative of an area forward of the vehicle, the area including a traffic light fixture having at least one traffic light. The at least one processing device may also be programmed to analyze at least one of the plurality of images to determine a status of the at least one traffic light, and determine an estimated amount of time until the vehicle will reach an intersection associated with the traffic light fixture. The at least one processing device may further be programmed to cause a system response based on the status of at least one traffic light and the estimated amount of time until the vehicle will reach the intersection.

In an example, using test scenarios to measure performance of VOSM includes: defining safety condition parameters of a VOSM for use in a test scenario configured to test performance of a safety system; generating a test scenario, using the safety condition parameters, the test scenario generated as a steady state test, a dynamic test, or a stress test; executing the test scenario with a test simulator, to produce test results for the safety system; measuring real-time kinematics of the safety system, during execution of the test scenario, based on compliance with the safety condition parameters; and producing a parameter rating for performance of the safety system with the VOSM, based on the test results and the measured real-time kinematics.

Abstract: A system for mapping a lane mark for use in autonomous vehicle navigation is provided. The system includes at least one processor programmed to: receive two or more location identifiers associated with a detected lane mark; associate the detected lane mark with a corresponding road segment; update an autonomous vehicle road navigation model relative to the corresponding road segment based on the two or more location identifiers associated with the detected lane mark; and distribute the updated autonomous vehicle road navigation model to a plurality of autonomous vehicles.
