Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to methods and apparatuses for channel estimation and feedback in a three dimensional multiple input multiple output (3D-MIMO) system. A method may comprise: transmitting a plurality of reference signals for a plurality of columns in an antenna array; receiving indication information on configuration adjustment of a precoding information feedback, wherein the indication information is based on measurement on the plurality of reference signals; and adjusting a configuration of the precoding information feedback based on the indication information so that a multiple vertical precoding information feedback is enabled when it can obtain a performance gain. Especially, the multiple vertical precoding information feedback may represent feeding back a plurality of vertical precoding matrix indicators for the plurality of columns in the antenna array. In embodiments of the present disclosure, there is provided a new solution for channel estimation and feedback in a 3D-MIMO system, and it may achieve a more accurate beamforming and/or a higher order spatial multiplexing, thereby improving the performance of the 3D-MIMO system.

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to downlink/uplink data transmission in a wireless communication system. In an embodiment of the present disclosure, there is provided a method for downlink data transmission in a wireless communication system which comprises transmitting an indication for a new-type reference signal to a user equipment, wherein the new-type reference signal has an identical location in frequency domain to a legacy reference signal; and transmitting the new-type reference signal and the legacy reference signal to the user equipment for using in channel estimation. In a case of more than one antenna port, the new-type reference signal may be designed to have a different location in time domain from a legacy reference signal to avoid interference to other antenna ports. With embodiments of the present disclosure, it is possible to perform a channel estimation based on both the legacy reference signal and the new-type reference signal to achieve a higher accuracy of channel estimation, and thus a UE with a low SNR may be also used in LTE networks.

Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to uplink data transmission in a wireless communication system. In an embodiment of the present disclosure, there is provided a method for uplink data transmission in a wireless communication system. The method comprises transmitting an indication for new-type reference signals to a user equipment, wherein the new-type reference signals have a reduced density of reference signals in frequency domain, and resource elements not used by reference signals in symbols for the new-type reference signals are used for coverage enhancement; receiving the new-type reference signals; and performing channel estimation based on the new-type reference signals. With embodiments of the present disclosure, it may reduce the density of reference signals in frequency domain, which means the overhead will not be increased substantially and besides saved resource element may be used to implement the coverage enhancement. Thus, the number of retransmission of MTC UE in low SNR could be further reduced, which in turn results in the improvement of the system throughput. Accordingly, it is possible for a UE with a low SNR to be used in LTE networks.

The method may comprise: dividing a plurality of cells into disjoint clusters based on interference conditions among base stations of the plurality of cells; and performing, in each of at least one of the disjoint clusters, a cooperation DL/UL resource configuration on in-cluster cells included therein based on traffic conditions and performance metrics of the in-cluster cells, so as to determine respective DL/UL resource configurations for the in-cluster cells. With embodiments of the present disclosure, time domain resources may be utilized more efficiently and, additionally, it may be expected to achieve a better overall performance at a low cost.

Embodiments of the present disclosure provide methods and apparatus for performing Transmission Time Interval (TTI) bundling in a Time Division Duplex (TDD) system. One of the methods may comprise receiving a first TTI bundling packet containing a first part of a redundancy version of a transport block on a special subframe and a second TTI bundling packet containing a second part of the redundancy version on another special subframe; and combining the first TTI bundling packet and the second TTI bundling packet to obtain the redundancy version of the transport block in a complete form. With embodiments of the present disclosure, more configurations may be used in TTI bundling for enhancing coverage in the TDD system, and it may avoid additional interferences to legacy UEs.

The present disclosure provides a method and an apparatus of resource sharing for D2D and cellular communications. The method may comprise: determining a cellular user set containing potential cellular users that may share resources with a D2D pair; and determining transmit power of the D2D pair on a frequency band of at least one cellular user in the cellular user set and transmit power of the at least one cellular user through maximizing throughput of the D2D pair with a quality of service (QoS) constraint and a power budget constraint of each of the potential cellular users and a transmit power constraint of the D2D pair. With embodiments of the present disclosure, it may provide a non-orthogonal resource sharing solution in which a D2D pair can reuse resources of the cellular users as more as possible while the QoS of all the cellular users are guaranteed, whereby the performance of the D2D user may be improved greatly.

The present disclosure provides a method and an apparatus for allocating resources for device-to-device communication. The method may comprise selecting, from device-to-device pairs that need to be allocated resources and are sorted based on channel condition in descending order, a device-to-device pair ranking first in the device-to-device pairs; determining system sum rates for channels if the device-to-device pair shares resources with respective potential cellular users; and allocating resources assigned to a cellular user to the device-to-device pair based on the determined system sum rates. With embodiments of the present disclosure, the performance of the D2D communication may be further improved and it may achieve a system performance optimization.
