A method and apparatus may include establishing a first bearer for user equipment to transmit uplink communication to an application server. The user equipment is configured for vehicle-to-vehicle or vehicle-to-infrastructure communication. The method may also include establishing a second bearer for the application server to transmit downlink communication to the user equipment obtaining V2X services. The method may also include transmitting uplink and downlink communication between the user equipment and the application server.

For example, such reporting may be beneficial in the establishment of a multimedia broadcast/multicast service bearer for media traffic delivery from a group communication service application server or other similar device or system. A method can include reporting at least a first set of user equipment location information and at least a second set of user equipment location information from the user equipment to at least one network node for broadcast bearer management. A method of control plane messaging between a user equipment and a network element in a core network in which Non-Access Stratum protocol layer messages are sent in a Non-Access Stratum protocol layer wherein an Ethernet convergence sublayer is provided between the Non-Access Stratum protocol layer and a radio protocol layer. There are provided measures for improving/enhancing RAN user-plane congestion management. Such measures exemplarily comprise detecting a congestion indication for at least one bearer, which indicates user-plane congestion for the at least one bearer in a radio access network, deciding on activation of application detection for the at least one bearer on the basis of the detested congestion indication, and activating application detection for the at least one bearer upon an activation decision.

Various communication systems may benefit from an identifier that can correlate a user equipment or a packet data network connection with a particular cell. For example, a correlation identifier may be useful to address management of user plane congestion and other use cases. A method can include generating a correlation identifier for a user equipment and/or a packet data network connection. The method also includes the ability to identify the user context information with the same correlation ID in the core network and in the radio access network. The method can also include sending the correlation identifier to a network element.

Various communication systems may benefit from a dynamic streaming service. For example, certain streaming services may benefit from an improvement in the switching between broadcast delivery and unicast delivery for a streaming service in a cellular system. A method includes receiving information about a streaming service. The method also includes determining by a network entity in a radio access network whether to deliver data for the streaming service via multimedia broadcast or unicast based on the information and predetermined criteria for evaluating the information. In addition, the method includes triggering a sending of the data via the multimedia broadcast or the unicast.

Various communication systems may benefit from an improved signaling protocol. For example, machine-to-machine communications in a network may benefit from improved signaling and security. A method includes establishing a secure data transmission path for an application. The secure data transmission path is used to transmit data between a user equipment and a network element. The network entity includes a gateway or an application server. The method also includes transmitting data for the application over the secure data transmission path using a pre-configured radio bearer. The radio bearer is pre-configured for data transmission between the user equipment and an access node located between the user equipment and the network element. In addition, the method includes receiving a response message at the user equipment from the network element through the secure data transmission path.

There are provided measures for machine to machine capabilities in mobile communication networks. Such measures exemplarily comprise establishing a connection to obtain machine type communication related services identified by an APN or a service flow identifier from the network, receiving information indicative of a feature of a group of features assigned to a certain functionality, said feature being selected from said group of features based on usage conditions of said connection, and utilizing said feature for said certain functionality in relation to said connection.
