    Abstract: A method and an apparatus for Wi-Fi connection based on Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS) in a portable terminal are provided. The method includes entering a group owner mode of Wi-Fi Direct when enabling of WPS is requested, after entering the group owner mode, entering a WPS session mode where the portable terminal is operable in a WPS registrar mode, determining whether an Access Point (AP) whose WPS session of the WPS registrar mode is enabled or a device whose group owner mode is enabled, exists nearby, and when an AP whose WPS registrar mode is enabled is discovered, disabling the WPS registrar mode and the group owner mode, enabling a WPS session where the portable terminal is to operate in a WPS enrollee mode, and accessing the discovered AP.

    Abstract: A method for using legacy Wi-Fi and Wi-Fi Peer-to-Peer (P2P) simultaneously is provided. The method includes entering a device discovery process of Wi-Fi P2P, if use of a Wi-Fi P2P function is requested while using a legacy Wi-Fi function, acquiring a Group Owner (GO) right of Wi-Fi P2P in the device discovery process, performing a listen state over the same channel as a channel where the legacy Wi-Fi function is in use, through the acquisition of the GO right, and performing a search state over a social channel of Wi-Fi P2P, and repeating the listen state and the search state until the device discovery process is ended.

    Abstract: An electronic device for scanning for a wireless connection is disclosed. The electronic device comprises: a housing; a wireless communication circuit located in the housing, and supporting a wireless protocol so as to wirelessly connect to one of a plurality of APs using the same first credential information at one time point; a processor located in the housing and electrically connected to the communication circuit; and a memory located in the housing and electrically connected to the processor, wherein instructions, which can be stored by the memory, allow, during execution thereof, the processor to: wirelessly connect, through the wireless communication circuit, to a first AP using the first credential information; receive, through the wireless communication circuit, a list of first channels at least partially associated with at least one second AP having a coverage overlapping that of the first AP among the plurality of APs; and scan, through the wireless communication circuit, for the at least one second AP using the first credential information, by using the list of the first channels. The list of the first channels can include, but not all, a plurality of channels among channels available from the wireless protocol. Other embodiments are also possible.

    Abstract: An electronic device and a power control method of an electronic device are provided.
