Olefin metathesis polymerization reactions are disclosed, and more particularly ring-opening metathesis polymerization of cyclic olefins with olefinic compounds, such as are derived from seed oils and the like, to form telechelic polymers. In one aspect, a method is provided for carrying out a catalytic ring-opening metathesis polymerization reaction, comprising contacting at least one olefinic compound with at least one cyclic olefin, in the presence of a ruthenium alkylidene olefin metathesis catalyst under conditions effective to allow ring-opening metathesis polymerization of the cyclic olefin, whereby the cyclic olefin polymer formed is terminated with the olefinic compound. The invention has utility in the fields of catalysis, organic synthesis, polymer chemistry, and industrial chemistry.

This invention relates to compositions and methods for improving the adhesion of resin compositions to substrate materials, pre-treating substrate materials to improve the adhesion of resin compositions to the substrate materials, and/or controlling gel formation of resin compositions. More particularly, the invention relates to compositions and methods for improving the adhesion of ring opening metathesis polymerization (ROMP) compositions to substrate materials using adhesion promoters containing isocyariate groups in a resin composition. The invention also relates to methods for improving the adhesion of resin compositions to substrate materials by pre-treating substrate materials with adhesion promoters containing isocyanate groups. The invention further relates to a method of providing a gel-modified ROMP composition, in which a hydroperoxide is added to a ROMP polymerizable resin composition in order to control gel formation of the polymerizing resin. An improved ROMP composition is further disclosed, comprising a cyclic olefin, a ROMP metathesis catalyst, an adhesion promoter, and an added hydroperoxide gel modifier. The polymer products produced via ROMP reactions of the invention may be utilized for a wide range of materials and composite applications. The invention has utility in the fields of catalysis, organic synthesis, and polymer and materials chemistry and manufacture.

Methods and apparatus enable radiosynthesis of radiolabeled compounds using electrochemical trapping and release. The trapping and release of radioactive isotopes all occur inside a microreactor, a vial or similar device, thus eliminating the need for azeotropic drying and several dead-end filling steps, as well as the necessity to move concentrated radioisotopes from one compartment of the chip to another. These and other features allow radioisotope enrichment to be carried out internally within a radiochemical synthesis chip, providing faster and more robust operation, as well as producing very high radiochemical labeling yields.
