    摘要: A process for the co-production of 2-alkanones having at least five carbon atoms and phenol or a substituted phenol. In the first step, benzene or a substituted benzene is alkylated with an alkyl moiety of at least five carbon atoms to selectively produce the 2-arylalkane isomer. Subsequent oxidation to the hydroperoxide and acid cleavage thereof yields the desired product. The alkylation step is carried out in the presence of a novel class of selective crystalline zeolite materials having pore openings with a major dimension of six to seven angstroms.

    摘要: A process for producing substantially linear hydrocarbons by oligomerizing a lower olefin at elevated temperature and pressure which comprises contacting the lower olefin under oligomerization/polymerization conditions with siliceous acidic ZSM-23 zeolite having Bronsted acid activity; wherein the zeolite has acidic pore activity and wherein the zeolite surface is rendered substantially inactive for acidic reactions. The zeolite surface can be neutralized by a bulky pyridine compound having an effective cross-section larger than the zeolite pore. The preferred deactivating agent is 2,4,6-collidine, which may be applied to the zeolite as a pretreatment or added with olefin feed in a continuous process. The olefin oligomers may be used as alkylating agents to prepare biodegradable alkylbenzenes and alkylphenylsulfonates. A preferred catalyst for this alkylation reaction is dealuminized mordenite.

    摘要: A catalytic process is provided for the ethylation of a mono alkyl benzene wherein the alkyl substituent contains 1 or 2 carbon atoms, i.e. toluene or ethylbenzene, to selectively produce the para ethyl derivative thereof, i.e. para ethyltoluene or para diethylbenzene by contacting said mono alkyl benzene, under conversion conditions, with an ethylating agent in the presence of a catalyst comprising a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite, which zeolite is characterized by an activity, in terms of alpha value, of between about 2 and about 5000, and preferably between about 20 and about 500, a xylene sorption capacity greater than 1 gram/100 grams of zeolite and an ortho xylene sorption time for 30 percent of said capacity of greater than 10 minutes, said sorption capacity and sorption time being measured at 120.degree. C. and a xylene pressure of 4.5 .+-. 0.8 mm. of mercury, said catalyst comprising a crystalline aluminosilicate zeolite having a silica to alumina ratio of at least about 12 and a constraint index, as hereinafter defined, within the approximate range of 1 to 12 to yield a resulting product in which the para ethyl derivative of said mono alkyl benzene is present in an amount greater than the thermodynamic equilibrium concentration thereof in the total dialkyl substituted benzenes produced.
