    摘要: A package of strip material includes a plurality of stacks of the strip side by side where each strip forms a stacked fan folded supply of the strip which is spliced to or arranged so that it can be subsequently spliced to a next adjacent strip for supply of a continuous strip from the package. The side by side stacks are simultaneously built up from the bottom by moving a carriage back and forth below a stationary bottom surface of the stacks with the strips supplied side by side through a slot in the carriage. The stacks are supported side by side as they are built up by rigid side walls of a chute or of a box into which the package is to be packaged for transportation. The tails are supported or arranged so that they are ready for splicing when the package is completed an before transportation. The packaging material can be an evacuated bag or a rigid box. Transfer of the completed stacks is effected simultaneously by a slip sheet arrangement or by moving one of the belts of the carriage as an ejection belt.

    摘要: An accumulator system for foldable sheet-like material. The system includes an accumulator bin having a pair of sidewalls, a pair of end walls, a bottom wall, and an open top. An infeed mechanism conveys the material to the accumulator bin. A chute receives the material from the infeed mechanism and guides the material inside the chute. In a first state, the chute is stationary and the system operates in a steady-state condition with a loop in the material between the infeed mechanism and an outfeed mechanism. In a second state, the outfeed mechanism is shut off and the chute is capable of reciprocating such that the material is guided toward the bottom wall of the bin. The reciprocating motion of the chute causes the material to be folded endwise in alternating fashion.

    摘要: A dual technology printer includes first and second print stations having a polychromatic print engine and a monochromatic print engine, respectively. The print engines are preferably an ink jet print engine and a thermal print engine. A variable length media queue is formed between the two print stations. The queue may be formed by a guide roller that defines a loop of media between the stations and that is movable to adjust the length of the loop and thereby the length of the queue. Preferably, the second print station has a predetermined pixel addressability and a resolution substantially equal to the addressability to produce sharp borders for machine readable symbologies. In a printing operation, the printing of color images at the first print station may be carried out ahead of demand for a particular batch printing operation during which monochromatic images are printed at the second print station.

    摘要: Apparatus for festooning a traveling length of textile fabric or other web-like material comprises a frame supporting a pair of opposed spaced endless conveyor chains across which a plurality of fabric support rods are removably carried by the conveyor chains in succession with one another for supporting an individual festoon of the fabric depending between each successively adjacent pair of the rods. A secondary conveyor arrangement at the fabric entrance end of the frame is operative to temporarily remove each succeeding fabric support rod from the conveyor chains and, after a selected dwell time, to replace each removed rod onto the conveyor chains to control the festooning accumulation of the fabric on the support rods. The upper web carrying run of the conveyor chains extends upwardly and downwardly in a sinuous path of travel over a succession of angularly inclined chain guide flanges, by which the overall length of the web carrying run in relation to the horizontal lengthwise dimension of the festooning apparatus is maximized.
