摘要: A brake system for a vehicle having spring applied, pressure releasable brakes (10) including a manual pump (28), a terminal board (14) having ports (16,18,20) terminating the system fluid pressure line (22), the brake pressure line (12) and the pump pressure line (76), and a U-tube (120) connecting two of the ports on the terminal board. In the alternative embodiment, an emergency brake release system for a vehicle having spring applied, pressure releasable brake (130) including a pump (166), and a control valve (140) for selectively connecting the pump (166) to the brakes (130) while connecting the fluid pressure supply line (133) to a reservoir return line (136). The valve (140) includes modes for connecting the brakes (130) to the supply line (134) through an orifice (192), and a brake outlet line (138) to the reservoir return line (136) for bleeding the brakes (130), and for isolating the supply line (134) while venting the brake line (133), for checking system pressure. A limit switch (200) prevents engine starting while the brakes (130) are manually released.

摘要: Idler gears (14) which transmit power from crankshaft gears (12) to camshaft gears (16) may have helical teeth thus producing a tilting or cocking force on the idler gears (14). Past attempts to solve this problem have led to bulky and expensive structures, or to structures which are subject to failure. The problem is solved herein by a sleeve bushing (38, 54 or 54') having an axially extending bearing surface (42, 58 or 88') and being located between the bore (26,52) of an idler gear (14) or other rotary member and a stub shaft (30 or 56), the sleeve bushing (38,54 or 54') including construction (51 or 60) which maintains an extended area (44,46 or 58,88) of the bearing surface (42 or 58 or 88) in fitted mating relation against an extended area (49, 52 or 97) of a respective one of the shaft (30,56) and the bore (26,52) as the bearing surface (42,58,88') is worn down.

摘要: The invention relates to apparatus for supplying pressurized fluid to various controlled members (16,30,34). A problem with prior apparatus is the need for a plurality of separate apparatuses to supply the controlled members. The invention solves this problem through the use of a single valve (25) that controls the supply of pressurized fluid from a fluid source to first (34), second (16) and third (30) controlled members, in which the single valve (25) has a first relief valve segment (46) to relieve the pressure of fluid flowing from the source to the first controlled member (34), a second relief valve segment (100) to relieve the pressure of fluid relieved by the first relief valve segment (46), and a third valve segment (138) to direct the fluid relieved by the first relief valve segment (46) to the second (16) and third (30) controlled members. A movable lever (26) is connected to the third valve segment (138) to shift this valve segment (138) and control the direction of the fluid. The invention is used principally in hydraulic circuits for earthworking vehicles to actuate a plurality of controlled members including a flywheel clutch and clutch brake, and steering clutches and vehicle brakes.

摘要: A liquid-filled radial seal (12) includes an annular seal portion (36) and an annular body portion (34) connected thereto and defining an internal chamber (44) with an incompressible liquid (56) therein. The seal portion (36) has a sealing surface (64) and a cross sectional configuration tapering divergingly away from the sealing surface (64) to a cylindrical reference boundary (38) located between the portions (34,36). The chamber is spaced radially away from the reference boundary (38) and the free radial distance between the chamber (44) and the sealing surface (64) is preferably a preselected proportion of the overall radial height of the seal.

摘要: A tape-applying apparatus (10) is advanced toward a body (15) upon which a strip of tape (16) is to be applied to urge a plurality of stitching rollers (72,74) against the body (15). Further advancing of the apparatus (10) will move an applicator roller (42) and the end of the tape (16) into engagement with the body (15). As the body (15) is moved past the tape-applying apparatus (10), the tape (16) is pulled over the applicator roller (42) and is stitched to the body (15) by the stitching rollers (72,74). When sufficient tape (16) has been applied, the housing (20) of the tape-applying apparatus (10) is urged away from the body (15) which moves the applicator roller (42) out of contact with the body (15). A brake apparatus (94) on the housing (20) is activated by a cam recess (80) on the holders (50) for some of the stitching rollers (72). The brake apparatus (94) engages the applicator roller (42) to arrest further feeding of tape (16) to the body (15). Continued rotation of the body (15) with some of the stitching rollers (72) in contact therewith will stretch the tape (16) between the applicator roller (42) and the stitching rollers (72) until the tape (16) is severed. The free end of the tape (16) is left in position on the applicator roller (42) ready for the next application to the same or a different body (15).

摘要: A continuous track assembly (12) has a frame (16) and first and second elements (18,20) pivotally connected to the frame (16). Each element (18,20) has a rotatable wheel (22,24) about which a track (30) is positioned. Either wheel (22,24) can be rotated when desired by power and driving apparatus (36,44) in an associated vehicle (10) to drive the track (30). Tension in the track (30) is maintained at a preselected level by apparatus (50) which moves the first and second elements (18,20) relative to one another to position the wheels (22,24) against the track (30). The wheels (22,24) are freely pivotally movable to enable the track assembly (12) to readily adapt to its environment and maximize tractive effort. Maintaining desired track tension substantially overcomes problems associated with a track which is too loose or tight which can result in slipping or damage to the track assembly (12).
