    摘要: An electronic template includes components stored with corresponding dimensional data. Each component is assigned an insertion point by which a user may interface with a computer-aided design operating system for indicating the desired position and rotational orientation of a selected component. First selected components comprise primary components, and typically have further accessory attachment points designated thereon, whereby subsequent accessory components may be automatically connected in the design to its primary component with which it mates. The accessory attachment point defines a target for insertion of the accessory component, thereby maintaining positional accuracy without requiring the user to determine positioning relationships for mating parts. Once entered into the design, the user may draw on the component dimensional data for calculating dimensions on the drawing.

    摘要: A mounting frame is disclosed for supporting a speed control device and a drive source in operative relationship. The frame is preferably of U-shape configuration having spaced apart, parallel legs which define a section in a first plane for mounting receipt of one of said drive source and said speed control device, and a second section for cantilever support from said first section when installed, said second section of said legs being located in a different plane than said first section of said legs and being adapted for mounting receipt of the other of said drive source and said speed control device. The second cantilevered section of said legs is not supported from said one of said drive source and said speed control device, and the mounting structure precludes reaching of the resonant frequency of the drive source support structure during the operating range of same or significant transfer of vibration from one of said drive source and said speed control device to the other.

    摘要: An assembly and method is provided for properly securing a device such as a bearing, pulley, sheave or the like to a shaft wherein a split tapered adapter is received about the shaft, the adapter having a first end of lesser diameter, a second end of greater diameter, and a tapered surface therebetween, and threads defined about the first end of the adapter, a locknut is in threaded engagement with the first end of the adapter and a device received about the adapter. The locknut has a set of set screws carried therethrough and spaced therearound which are controlled such that the force developed thereby is adequate to clamp the adapter to the shaft and seat the device on the adapter yet is inadequate to move the device toward the second end of the adatper. A second plurality of set screws may be received through said locknut which generate adequate force to move the device up the adapter to achieve a predetermined location of the device. Alternately, the locknut may be turned a predetermined member of degrees of rotation to force the device up the adapter by a predetermined amount.

    摘要: A gear box or the like adapted for prolonged effective use in a harsh and/or corrosive environment such as found in the chemical industry and are in which salt water is prevalent. Components of the gear box are provided with protective polymer coatings which are low friction and impervious to attack from the environment and materials used therein. Exterior surfaces of the housing are coated with a polymer that also withstands impact from foreign objects as exemplified by polyamides, epoxies and fluorocarbons with nylon being preferred. Other components such as the input shaft, bushings and the like are preferably coated with one or more layers of fluorocarbon polymers, with layers in contact with the component including a thermosettable binder component such as a phenolic. Certain coating thicknesses are most preferred.

    摘要: An industrial control system device that can be utilized for drive control, process control and/or logic control and which is comprised of a unique combination of hardware and software. Use of one or more of the devices in an industrial control system application permits the control system to be partitioned into subsystems which communicate with one another and which operate as self-contained units. Each subsystem can be further subdivided into modules that have distinct operating functions. The software utilized by the control system device separates the required operating functions of the control system into distinct tasks that operate concurrently (multi-tasking) on a priority level basis while sharing system data and control signals. Three programming languages (BASIC, Control Block, Ladder Logic) are employed so that the most appropriate language can be utilized for each task. Processors can be added to the industrial control system to permit the movement of a task from processor to processor (multi-processing) without reprogramming.

    摘要: A coupling arrangement is made vibration-proof based on mating male and female spline members. The male spline member is incorporated into the outside diameter of a shaft, while the female spline member is incorporated into the bore of a coupling hub. The spline shaft is received in the spline bore. The coupling hub includes two perpendicular cuts through the splined portion thereof, to permit selected radially-inward compression of such portion for shrink fitting thereof onto the spline shaft. The outside diameter of such coupling hub splined portion is also adapted for receiving a clamping collar, which may be tightened to compress the hub and effect a tight fit with the splined shaft, thereby facilitating the application of effective clamping force, while eliminating all play and fretting corrosion between the shaft and coupling hub.
