Abstract:
An electrode for dielectric barrier discharge treatment of a substrate includes a tubular housing that is made of electrically insulating material and has a bottom wall facing the substrate, two side walls extending away from the substrate, and a top wall connecting the distal ends of the side walls. The electrode further includes an electrically conductive electrode member disposed inside the housing and having a plate that engages an internal surface of the bottom wall of the housing. The electrode has two wings formed in one piece with the plate and engaging internal surfaces of the side walls of the housing.
Abstract:
A toner bottle cap has a fixed member and a slide member. The fixed member is stationary relative to a toner bottle and defines a first flow passage. The slide member defines a second flow passage coaxially adjoining the first flow passage in a toner outflow direction and having a peripheral wall in sealing contact with a peripheral wall of the fixed member. The slide member is slideable relative to the fixed member in axial direction of the flow passages. One of the members has a wall part that restricts the cross-section of the flow passage of the one member and defines a toner outflow opening. The other of the members has a stop member projecting axially towards the outflow opening and closes the same when the slide member is in a closed position and opens the outflow opening when the slide member is slid in the toner outflow direction.
Abstract:
The invention relates to an ink composition comprising a pigment, an aqueous vehicle, a host compound having a cavity and a surface active agent, wherein the surface active agent is capable of binding to the cavity of the host compound. The invention further relates to a method for preparing such ink compositions and to a method for applying an image onto a receiving medium using such ink composition.
Abstract:
A toner refill device includes first and second adapter units defining first and second refill openings, and first and second closure members movable between closed positions open and closed positions to respectively close and open the refill openings. The second closure member has a passage forming element connecting the refill openings when the second closure member is in the open position. The second adapter unit defines an accommodation space for accommodating the passage forming element when the second closure member is in the closed position. The closure members are adapted to be coupled to one another for a joint movement relative to the adapter units. The closure members are rotatably supported in their respective adapter units so as to be jointly rotatable about a common axis of rotation. The second refill opening and the accommodation space are angularly offset from one another about said common axis of rotation.
Abstract:
A method of establishing a time interval between maintenance actions expressed in pages for a printing device, includes determining the number of pages of an incoming print job, comparing the determined number of pages to a predetermined time interval between the maintenance actions expressed in pages, changing the predetermined time interval into at least one new time interval between the maintenance actions expressed in pages based on the comparison, printing the incoming print job, and carrying out at least one maintenance action after the start of printing of the incoming print job according to the at least one new time interval. A printing device includes a print unit and a print controller for planning maintenance actions on the print unit according to the method.
Abstract:
A method is provided for compensating a failing nozzle in a printhead comprising a series of print elements with nozzles for operation in an inkjet printing process in which a colorant is applied for locally changing an optical density, thereby printing an image. The method comprises at least two compensation mechanisms, each providing a different amount of additional optical density in the environment of a missing dot in the printed image. A nozzle is recorded as a failing nozzle if the associated print element does not apply an ink dot within predetermined specifications. An environment density is determined in an environment of a missing dot associated with said failing nozzle. The environment density is compared with a predetermined threshold, and an appropriate compensation mechanism is selected from the at least two compensation mechanisms. The method is applied in an inkjet printing system for balancing under- and overcompensated optical density.
Abstract:
A device is configured to eject droplets of an electrically non-conductive medium at a temperature of 360° C. or above. The device includes a fluid chamber body, the fluid chamber body having a fluid chamber for containing an electrically non-conductive medium at a temperature of 360° C. or above and for containing a conductive medium. The fluid chamber includes an orifice. In the fluid chamber, at least a part of the electrically non-conductive medium is positioned closer to the orifice than the conductive medium. The device further includes a heater configured to heat the electrically non-conductive medium and an actuator, the actuator includes electrodes for generating a current in the conductive medium and magnets for generating a magnetic field in the conductive medium.
Abstract:
In a method for ejecting droplets of a molten metal, the metal is an alloy including a first metal and a second metal. During a jetting operation, the second metal segregates from the first metal. A method of using such alloy is also disclosed herein.
Abstract:
A sheet conveying device includes a belt arranged to carry sheets from an upstream end to a downstream end of a transport path, the belt having an array of perforations; and an array of suction nozzles arranged below the belt for sucking-in ambient air through the perforations of the belt. At least one blow nozzle is arranged at the downstream end of the transport path for blowing out a gas through the perforations of the belt. The downstream end of the transport path is defined by a deflection roller. A plurality of blow nozzles are formed by circumferential grooves in the peripheral surface of the deflection roller.
Abstract:
A method is provided for processing a relief raster image, comprising customary color channels for indicating a color of each pixel and a height channel for indicating a height of each pixel into several pass images that are printed using a printer with several colorants including a white colorant. For each pixel a relief part, a white part and a skin part are discriminated in order to combine the demands for height and color variation across the surface of the image. The skin part comprises pixels for which a colorant composition based on the color channels of the relief raster image is established. In order to print a color in the skin part that is independent of a height of the pixel, the relief part comprises an arbitrary colorant composition and the white part comprises mainly white colorant.
