    Abstract: A head assembly for continuously removing dust accumulating on margins of shoe soles as a result of operations carried out on the margins by a rotary tool. The head is adapted to fit over the tool and includes a feed or guide slot for introducing marginal portions of soles to the interior of the head. The feed slot is located intermediate of air intake means and air exhaust means, and adjustment means is provided for orienting a sole as fed through the feeding slot.

    Abstract: A device is powered for movement heightwise and laterally of a pile of work pieces, for instance articles of fabric or the like, and includes fluid pressure operated jaws for seizing and releasing successive single work pieces. The jaws are operative adjacent to a suctional opening in a work transferring member that contains a fluidically controlled circuit responsive to the change in pressure in the member, when its opening is restricted by a work piece, to effect closure of the jaws thereon. Arrival of the member with its clamped work piece at the release position causes the circuit to release the work piece.

    Abstract: A process for forming a microporous body having improved uniformity and permeability in which a normally solid or highly viscous polymeric reactive material is heated to bring it to a freely fluid state, a liquid having no or only very limited solvent or swelling action on the polymeric material is dispersed to form an emulsion with the polymeric material as the continuous phase, the polymeric material is reacted to tough, solid, resilient, film-forming condition, the emulsion is solidified and the liquid is removed leaving spaces constituting openings or pores in the solidified material. Where thin cross section bodies are desired, the emulsion is formed into a thin layer on a casting surface with a cover on the face of the emulsion opposite the casting surface, the cover remains in place during solidification of the emulsion, and is separated from the solidified emulsion before removal of the liquid.

    Abstract: Magnetic material has a unique configuration to reduce reluctance and improve performance of stepping or synchronous motors of the type employing deflectable armatures. Specifically, for instance, to reduce or eliminate nonuniformity of peripheral airgap the outer convolution or a portion thereof of the magnetic strip has its thickness gradually diminishing towards its outer end and/or is provided, at the length of such convolution from its end, with a radial, widthwise extending projection of substantially the same dimension as the thickness of the material at that end. Alternatively, concentric bridging tubes may be employed. A longitudinal slit pattern may be used to reduce eddy currents.
