摘要: A microfluidic connector (1) comprises an enclosure (6, 7), a fluidic inlet port (2) and a fluidic outlet port (3), in the enclosure, in which the inlet and outlet ports (2, 3) are movable with respect to each other, for example, mutual spacing between the inlet and outlet ports (2, 3) is variable. A port (2) is in a fixed part (6) of the enclosure, and another port (3) is in a part (7) of the enclosure which slides with respect to the fixed part. There may be multiple inlet ports (22, 23) and/or multiple outlet ports (24, 25). Also, there may be an auxiliary port (45) for introduction of fluid into the enclosure (47, 48) or removal of fluid from the enclosure.

摘要: This invention relates to improved techniques for processing potential field measurement data from airborne surveys such as gravity surveys, and to improved techniques for data acquisition which are enabled by the improved data processing techniques. We describe a method of processing measured potential field data from a potential field survey of the earth to determine map data for mapping said field, the method comprising: inputting said measured potential field data, said measured potential field data comprising data defining a plurality of potential field measurements and associated positions, each said position defining a position of a said potential field measurement in three dimensions; determining a plurality relationships between said potential field measurements and said positions, each said relationship relating a said potential field measurement to a function of a said associated position in three dimensions multiplied by a field mapping parameter; and determining a substantially self-consistent set of said field mapping parameters for said plurality of relationships to thereby determine said map data.

摘要: A readily burstable slide fastener 1 for an inflatable device, such as a lifejacket 101′, comprises a first stringer 3, a second stringer 5 and a slider 19 slidably mounted on the second stringer 5. At a weakened region 23 along the slide fastener 1 coupling elements 15 are omitted from each of the stringers 3, 5 so that when a bursting force is applied to this region 23 the coupling elements 15 adjacent thereto are disengaged. Coupling elements 15 are omitted from the top of the first stringer 3 so that when the slider 19 is at the top of the coupling elements 15 of the second stringer 5, the first stringer 3 can disengage from the slider 19. When the slide fastener 1 is fitted to an inflatable lifejacket 101′, the stringers 3, 5 are separated completely when the lifejacket 101′ is inflated.

摘要: In a zip fastener the elements (10) on one tape have a head which engages a shoulder (20) of an opposed element to limit out of plane movement. A small number of elements (30) have a head (38) which bears on a shoulder 46 when twisted in one direction but passes the shoulder (46) when twisted in the opposite direction to allow partial separation of the elements to create a point of weakness. The coupled elements can be peeled apart when sufficient pressure is applied to one side of the tape at the point of weakness, but the elements resist twisting when pressure is applied to the opposite side.

摘要: In a concealed slide fastener in which coupling elements 11, 13, 15 are injection moulded on the edge 25, 27 of a tape 17, 19, a coupling portion 53 of a coupling element is provided on one side of the tape 17, 19 and a shelf 47 of the coupling element on the other side of the tape 17, 19. A coupling portion 53 bears on the shelf 47 of the opposed coupling element with the respective tape 17, 19 sandwiched between them, to limit out of plane separation of the coupling elements. The coupling portion 53 can be made the full thickness of the coupling portion on one side of the tape without the need to provide any recess or undercut in the coupling head 43 and the coupling element can be moulded using a two part mould.

摘要: A microfluidic analysis system (1) performs polymerase chain reaction (PCR) analysis on a bio sample. In a centrifuge (6) the sample is separated into DNA and RNA constituents. The vortex is created by opposing flow of a silicon oil primary carrier fluid effecting circulation by viscous drag. The bio sample exits the centrifuge enveloped in the primary carrier fluid. This is pumped by a flow controller (7) to a thermal stage (9). The thermal stage (9) has a number of microfluidic devices (70) each having thermal zones (71, 72, 73) in which the bio sample is heated or cooled by heat conduction to/from a thermal carrier fluid and the primary carrier fluid. Thus, the carrier fluids envelope the sample, control its flowrate, and control its temperature without need for moving parts at the micro scale.

摘要: A arrangement is described for transmitting, radiating and receiving high-frequency signals. The arrangement is comprised of a system connected to a transmitting and receiving device (3) which includes at least one high-frequency element (1) capable of guiding electromagnetic waves and a first signal cable (5) extending parallel thereto. To improve the service reliability of the arrangement, a second signal cable (6) which is also connected to the transmitting and receiving device (3), is arranged parallel to the high-frequency element (1) and maintains a significant spatial separation to the first signal cable (5). The two signal cables (5,6) are alternatingly connected at coupling points (K1-Kn) to the high-frequency element (1) in such a way that the one signal cable (6) is connected to all even numbered coupling points (K2-K2n) and the other signal cable (5) is connected to all odd numbered coupling points (K1-K2n±1), wherein the coupling points are numbered successively with integer numbers, starting at the transmitting and receiving device (3). A malfunction of one of the signal cables (5,6) does consequently not impair the operation of the arrangement.

摘要: A radiating coaxial radio-frequency cable is specified, that comprises an inner conductor, a dielectric surrounding the latter and a tubular outer conductor disposed above the latter and concentric with the inner conductor. In the outer conductor, mutually separated openings (5) are provided that are disposed in a mutually offset manner in the circumferential direction of the cable and, in the longitudinal direction of the latter, are disposed along surface lines extending mutually in parallel in rows (R1, R2, R3) extending over the entire length of the cable. All the openings (5) extend essentially in the circumferential direction of the cable. For as broadband an operation of the cable as possible, in a first row (R1 ) for operating a frequency range used in mobile radio, openings (5) are disposed in groups (G) in a constantly repeating pattern whose first openings (5), viewed in each case in the axial direction of the cable, are at a mutual spacing (A1) corresponding to half the wavelength of the lowest frequency to be transmitted in the frequency range. In addition, in each group (G), further openings (5) are provided to take account of integral multiples of the lowest frequency to be transmitted in the frequency range. Further openings (5) are situated in at least one second row (R2 ) on a surface line other than that of the openings (5) of the first row (R1) and are disposed over the entire length of the cable at mutual constant spacing that is less than half the wavelength of the highest frequency to be transmitted over the cable.
