    摘要： An image display apparatus has: a display element for displaying an image; a light source section for supplying an illumination light to the display element; a reflection type hologram for diffracting and reflecting the illumination light so as to guide the illumination light to the display element; and an eyepiece optical system for guiding an image light from the display element to an eye of a viewer so as to provide an enlarged virtual image of the image. The reflection type hologram has diffusing properties. Since the reflection type hologram diffuses the illumination light, an incident angle of the illumination light with respect to the display element is widened to a certain extent. Since the display element does not change a propagating direction of a light ray, a propagating direction of the image light is widened similarly to widening of the incident angle, thereby enlarging the observation pupil.

    摘要： A head-mounted display device and an eyepiece optical system suitable for use in the head-mounted display device is provided. The eyepiece optical system is capable of enlarging and displaying, to an eye of an observer, an image displayed on a two-dimensional display element.     摘要： A voltage-controlled oscillator and a method capable of precisely adjusting a frequency shift amount are provided irrespective of a fluctuation in characteristics of elements such as a strip-line. A center tap 19 is formed in a strip-line 16 of a resonator. A switching element 20 is connected to the center tap 19, and this switching element 20 is turned ON, so that the center tap is shortcircuited to the ground so as to vary the oscillating frequency. A slit A1 is conducted in the vicinity of the center tap 19 along the strip-line 16 and directed toward a shortcircuited end 17 of the strip-line, so that a frequency shift amount is adjusted. Also, a slit B1 is conducted in the vicinity of the shortcircuited end 17 along the strip-line 16 and directed toward the center tap 19, so that a frequency shift amount is adjusted. Also, trimming points are provided on the side of a hot terminal 18 from the center tap 19, and also provided on the side of the shortcircuited end 17 from the center tap 19, and further a slit is conducted along an intersecting direction of the strip-line 16, so that a shift amount is adjusted.
