摘要: Systems and methods are disclosed for improving the resolution and quality of an image formed by signals from an array of receivers. Multiple receivers introduce variations in arrival times that can be less than the period of an operating signal, and also less than the period associated with a sampling operation. Thus, multiple receivers allow sampling of fine features of reflected signals that would be considered beyond the resolution associated with the operating signal. Use of multiple receivers also provides an effective sampling rate that is greater than the sampling rate of an individual receiver. Similar advantages can be obtained using multiple transmitters. Such advantageous features can be used to obtain high resolution images of objects in a medium in applications such as ultrasound imaging. Sub-Nyquist sampling is discussed.

摘要: Devices and methods are provided for measuring a property of a sample, such as an optical property. Embodiments of the subject invention include a device having sample measurement componentry and one or more enclosure-forming components, wherein one or more of the enclosure-forming components are movable, and wherein the device is configured so that one or more of the enclosure-forming components have a positional relationship that can change from an open position to a closed position in which one or more of the enclosure-forming components define an enclosed space accessible by the sample measurement componentry. Also provided are systems and kits.

摘要: To generate a metal-fiber laminated item from a ply placed on a layup form, a tackifier is applied to the layup form, a first location on the layup form is determined to place the ply, and a second location on the layup form is determined to stop placing the ply. In addition, the ply is cut to generate a first edge that substantially conforms to the layup form at the first location in response to the first edge being different from the layup form at the first location and a temperature of the ply is modulated. Furthermore, the first edge is tacked to the layup form at the first location, the ply is applied along a natural path of the layup form between the first location and the second location, and the ply is cut to generate a second edge that substantially conforms to the layup form at the second location in response to the second edge being different from the layup form at the second location.

摘要: An apparatus and method are provided for automatically labeling individual produce items. Individual produce items are conveyed towards a rotary bellows or other applicator. A sensor senses at least one variable characteristic, such as size of each of the produce items. The sensed variable is transmitted to a laser coding device and a variable human or machine readable code is printed on an individual label prior to application of that label to the specific item of produce for which the variable characteristic was sensed. The laser coding beam either reacts with a reactive or ablatable film on each label.

摘要: A directional transition module for moving an article translating on a primary roller conveyor extending along a first axis to a secondary conveyor for translation along a second axis angularly disposed with respect to the first axis includes at least one flexible drive member supported by a chassis for cycling through a predetermined driver cycle having an upper cycle portion and a lower cycle portion. The upper cycle portion is such that, when the directional transition module is installed for use in conjunction with the primary roller conveyor, the drive member cycles between first and second rollers of the primary roller conveyor. The drive member includes first and second segments wherein the first segment has a profile sufficiently low such that, when the first segment cycles through the upper cycle portion, it does not extend above a plane defined by the tops of the first and second rollers. The second segment has a profile sufficiently high such that, when the second segment cycles through the upper cycle portion, at least one section of the second segment extends above the plane defined by the tops of the first and second rollers to engage and at least partially lift the article for directional transition.
