Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communications are described. A set of reference signal resources that are configured for sounding reference signal transmissions may be shared among user equipments (UEs) that are enabled to receive multicast communications. Each of the shared set of reference signal resources may be associated with set(s) of channel state information. UEs may measure a multicast channel to determine channel state information for the multicast channel and transmit sounding reference signals over one of the shared reference signal resources that is associated with the set of channel state information determined by the UE. A base station that receives the sounding reference signal may transmit a subsequent multicast transmission for the UEs using transmission parameters that are adapted for the set(s) of channel state information associated with the occupied sounding reference signal resource.

Abstract: Methods and apparatuses are provided for managing packet data network (PDN) connectivity for a device. A device may receive one or more parameters specifying whether PDN connectivity to a local gateway is allowed for the device at one or more access points. The one or more parameters can be specific for the device and/or for one or more access point names. The device can determine whether to initiate a PDN connection to the local gateway from at least one of the one or more access points based at least in part on the one or more parameters.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides techniques that may be applied, for example, in a multi-slice network for maintaining privacy when attempting to access the network. An exemplary method generally includes transmitting a registration request message to a serving network to register with the serving network; receiving a first confirmation message indicating a secure connection with the serving network has been established; transmitting, after receiving the first confirmation message, a secure message to the serving network comprising an indication of at least one configured network slice that the UE wants to communicate over, wherein the at least one configured network slice is associated with a privacy flag that is set; and receiving a second confirmation message from the serving network indicating that the UE is permitted to communicate over the at least one configured network slice.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for monitoring a service availability associated with a service of a wireless communication network. A service availability status may indicate availability of the service. A user equipment (UE) may measure signal quality or signal strength associated with frequencies that are related to services of interest to the UE. The UE may manage a service relationship for the service associated with the service availability status. For example, the UE may transmit a radio resource control (RRC) message, an non-access stratum (NAS) message, or other message to indicate the service availability status to the wireless communication network. Alternatively, or additionally, the UE may provide an indication of the service availability status to an application processor or upper layer of the UE when the service availability status changes.

Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods, and apparatus, including computer programs encoded on computer-readable media, for a service-based cell reselection by a user equipment (UE) in a wireless communication system. The UE may have a service relationship with a particular service. A wireless communication system may provide different types of services via different radio frequencies. The UE may determine which cells to measure for cell reselection to include those that correspond to a service of interest to the UE. In addition to power savings, the UE may experience faster cell reselection for a service. The techniques of this disclosure also may enable a priority-based cell reselection so that the UE can camp on a cell that supports a higher priority service compared to other services supported by the UE.

In some aspects, the UE establishes a connection to a network and obtains a control plane message from the network. The control plane message may include one or more types of policy information if a size of the one or more types of policy information is less than or equal to a maximum payload size of the control plane message, or information indicating at least a network location from where the one or more types of policy information may be obtained by the UE over a user plane if the size of the one or more types of policy information is greater than the maximum payload size of the control plane message, or a combination thereof. Other aspects, embodiments, and features are also claimed and described.

Abstract: Methods, systems, and devices for wireless communication are described. Some wireless communications systems may support a determination of user equipment (UE) capabilities, such as a category or a coverage level for broadcast or multicast content. In some cases, a radio interface may be configured to account for an indicated capability of a target UE. For example, a base station may receive an indication of a capability of a particular targeted UE. The capability of the targeted UE may be specified by a service provider to deliver multicast or broadcast content, and subsequently associated with a radio interface between the base station and the target UE. The radio interface may then be configured based on the indicated capability of the target UE, for example, by configuring a transport block size or bandwidth. The base station may then transmit broadcast or multicast content to the UE using the configured radio interface.

A wireless communications system may support techniques for efficient communication between a user equipment (UE) and different entities (or functions) of a core network. Specifically, the UE may interact with a single entity (or function) of a core network (e.g., an access and mobility management function (AMF)), and messages intended for other entities (or functions) may be routed appropriately by this entity. For example, an AMF may receive a message from a UE intended for another entity (or function) of the core network, and the AMF may transmit (or route) the message to the entity (or function). Similarly, the AMF may receive a message from another entity (or function) of the core network, and the AMF may transmit (or route) the message to the UE.

A method for wireless communications is provided that may be performed by a user equipment (UE). The method includes receiving a power savings configuration indicating sleep periods during which the UE is scheduled to be unreachable. The method includes determining at least one time, during at least a portion of one of the indicated sleep periods, for the UE to be awake in order to at least one of: receive or discover Multimedia Broadcast Multicast Services (MBMS) user services.
