Abstract:
To facilitate a selective transmission power boost in a narrowband subsystem of a wideband host carrier, wherein the narrowband subsystem is preferentially allocated to reduced capability communications devices, both data symbols and dedicated reference symbols are transmitted at a higher power within the narrowband. Where the benefits of inserting dedicated reference symbols are outweighed by the loss of data capacity, no dedicated reference symbols are inserted.
Abstract:
Apparatus and method providing feedback on channel conditions in a wireless telecommunications system including a base station arranged to communicate with plural terminals device using frequencies spanning a system frequency bandwidth. At least one terminal device is a reduced capability terminal device including a tuneable transceiver configured to receive downlink transmissions from the base station using only a restricted frequency bandwidth which is smaller than and within the system frequency bandwidth. The reduced capability terminal device is configured to communicate information derived from measurements of channel conditions to the base station. The information may include an indication of measured channel conditions for the different frequency locations, or an indication of one or more frequency locations for which the corresponding measurement of channel conditions meet a pre-defined selection criterion. The base station subsequently schedules downlink transmissions for the terminal device in taking account of the information received from the terminal device.
Abstract:
Provided is a method for performing a handover from a first base station to a second base station by a user equipment that is performing a radio communication over a communication channel formed by aggregating a plurality of component carriers. The method includes a step of transmitting a handover command for a component carrier for which a handover has been approved by the second base station among the plurality of component carriers from the first base station to the user equipment and a step of trying to make an access from the user equipment to the second base station for each component carrier in response to the handover command.
Abstract:
Random access operation is performed under a communication environment in which a plurality of communication modes having different transmission rate coexist with small overhead. A high-grade communication station spoofs information of a packet length and a rate in a decoding portion so that a value of (packet length)/(rate) corresponds to a duration where the communication is hoped to be stopped. The other station receiving the spoofed information receives the rest of the packet with the designated rate during the interval designated by the value of (packet length)/(rate). In this case, the packet length and the rate are not those of actually transmitted packet so that this packet is discarded.

The communication apparatus, a communication method, and a program can equalize communication efficiencies of a plurality of communication apparatuses while maintaining or enhancing overall communication efficiency of a communication system composed of the plurality of communication apparatuses.
Abstract:
A method of transmitting downlink data in a mobile communications system, wherein the mobile communications system comprises a base station configured to communicate wireless signals to one or more terminal devices. The method comprises receiving an indicator of a maximum number of downlink repetitions “Nmax” currently accepted by a terminal device, wherein a number of downlink repetitions indicates a number of times that the same signal is transmitted to the terminal device; setting an actual number of downlink repetitions “Ntx” so that the actual number of downlink repetitions meets the condition Ntx≤Nmax; and transmitting the downlink data, to the terminal device, wherein the downlink data is transmitted via a signal transmitted a number of times equals to the actual number of downlink repetitions.
Abstract:
A wireless telecommunications system in which downlink communications are made using a radio interface that spans a system frequency bandwidth (host carrier) and supports at least some communications from a base station to least some terminal devices within a plurality of restricted frequency bands (virtual carriers) which are narrower than and within the system frequency bandwidth. A terminal device conveys an indication of its identity, to the base station during an initial connection procedure as the terminal device seeks to access the radio interface. The terminal device and the base station both determine a selected restricted frequency band from among the plurality of restricted frequency bands based on the identity of the terminal device in the same way. Thus the terminal device and base station select the same restricted frequency band and can accordingly configure their respective transceivers to allow downlink communications between them within the selected restricted frequency band.
