    摘要: An intermodal chassis for highway transportation of 53 foot shipping containers having a rear axle positioned under the chassis frame so that the kingpin-to-rear-axle length is no more than 40 feet, and a forward axle positioned under the frame between the gooseneck and the rear axle so that a forward-to-rear-axle length is at least 12 feet. The chassis includes air bag suspension that automatically deflate the air bags when the brakes are locked, preventing damage when loading a container onto the chassis. Other features include self-scaling and load-leveling, and other weight savings include use of smaller sized aluminum wheels.

    摘要: A load bearing carrier system for carrying additional cargo in the vehicle or on the carrier itself. The support system increases the wheelbase of the vehicle to stabilize the added weight and extended weight out the back of the vehicle at high speeds. The load bearing structure attaches to the tow vehicle at trailer hitches or directly to the frame of the vehicle. The system includes a receiver hitch or a multiple receiver hitch beam attached across the rear of the tow vehicle attached to the tow vehicle frame. The carrier mounting beam has trailer tongues pinned into said receivers and the attached mounting beam of the carrier has vertical beams near each end to mount the springs, air bags, air shocks, load bearing air cylinders or spring enhanced shocks type of suspension, the cargo platform and attached trailer hitch. The mounting beam has pivot beams to mount the spindles, hubs, brakes, wheels and tires. The suspension forces the pivot beams, spindles or axles, hubs, wheels, and tires to the ground lifting the carrier, cargo, cargo deck, truck, and trailer hitch attached to the cargo deck upward in a load bearing manner.

    摘要: A suspension system can include an air spring, an air reservoir external to the air spring, and a flow control device which variably restricts flow of air between the air spring and the air reservoir. Flow between the air spring and the air reservoir may be permitted in response to compliance of the suspension system, and the air spring can have an internal air volume at least 2½ times as great as a volume of the air reservoir. The flow control device may permit flow between the air spring and the air reservoir in response to a predetermined pressure differential level across the flow control device. Multiple air reservoirs can be internal to an axle, and can be isolated from each other in the axle.

    摘要: For adjusting the supporting load of a central axle trailer equipped with at least two axles having pneumatic suspensions and a pneumatic suspension system that includes separate pneumatic suspension circuits on the axles with pneumatic suspensions, a method and electronic control device are provided by which the respective quantities of air are separately adjustable. When the current supporting load exceeds a permitted supporting load range, the current supporting load is reduced by separate alteration of the quantity of air in at least one of the pneumatic suspension circuits; and, when the current supporting load is below the permitted supporting load range, the current supporting load is increased by separate alteration of the quantity of air in at least one of the pneumatic suspension circuits.
